Hybrids are hard on an engine if you think about it.
When you press the start button, the vehicle turns on but the engine does not start, you put it in gear and off you go to the end of the street, wait to pull onto the highway and "Blast-Off".
The poor cold, sleeping engine kicks on for the first time trying to immediately get up to highway speed from a cold start.
You could change the oil every day and it would not help.
What you can do is, once you first turn the vehicle on, tap the accelerator peddle quickly and the engine will start and just idle for a few minutes or until you need it.
That would infinitely be the best thing you could do for your hybrid engine.
In my opinion.
Actually - drive it as recommended for ANY vehicle for last many decades.
Start out slow and easy, perhaps a quick 20-30 sec idle first.

For the hybrid - it stays in EV mode after the ICE is turned on, until the catalytic converter reaches 1000 - unless you are indeed getting off your driveway, and straight onto highway at speed.
But then that would be ignoring the advice and hard on ALL vehicles except BEV's.

The engine actually has it easier - it's spun up to required RPM and THEN fuel/spark added.
Not with starter with fuel/spark at start to get it up to RPM.
So much gentler to have the engine and oil pump going full RPM before explosives added.

Yup. People don’t understand the profound differences between the two drivetrains and just make wild unfounded assumptions.

The only downside I can see to changing the oil frequently (aside from a few dollars once a year or so) is what happened with my 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport.: I dropped the skid plate to change the oil so many times that eventually the threaded holes got stripped and the bolts wouldn't tighten up. I suppose I could have used a tap and die set to create new threads, but I just improvised and used heavy duty zip ties to keep the skid plate in place.

Just in case some of you were not aware, Ford changed the spec for required oil on the 2026 Hybrid.

Does this mean they disapprove of the snake oil salesmen like Amsoil?

Recommended ≠ Required.

Example:

I recommend you don't eat raw fish.
But you can if you want.

Quality properly prepared sushi is healthier for people than canned tuna.

Of course Ford "recommends" a Motorcraft product. Got to keep the product sales revenue in the family if possible. And they also "recommend" a Motorcraft oil filter.

And they "recommend" 0W-20. Does that mean other grades/specs are "acceptable" too?
0W-15? or 0W-30? 5W-20?

"Recommended," not "required?"

The manual tells us the truck will tell us when it needs an oil change or every 10,000 miles. Being someone that used to change his own oil on older cars, I was always used to changing oil every 3,000 miles. I bought a brand new Fusion in 2012 and changed every 5,000 miles since it uses synthetic oil. The dealership says I should change the oil on the Maverick every 5,000 miles. I tend to agree with them, does anyone else have thoughts on this?
4.5k-5k miles is what I go by using synthetic. I definitely wouldn't recommend going over the 5k.

For the EB, Ford Corp recommends 91 Octane & Full Synthetic Oil for best performance. Data backs them up.

Most Ford Dealers use 87 Octane & Synthetic Blend as their default fills. You are a default customer in their eyes.

Maybe there are a few Ford Dealers who treat their customers as premium - using 91 Octane & Full Synthetic as their default fills? Haha, I crack myself up sometimes.

Some people forget turbo boosted and battery boosted engines are very different. How many miles have you driven your EcoBoost with the engine off?

You're reading that incorrectly. It recommends Motorcraft oil and filter. It requires the use of 0W20 full-synthetic oil (other brands can be used, but only if they meet the specifications listed).

In the USA, the Ford Oil nerds work with the oil nerds at ConocoPhillips/Phillips66 to blend Motorcraft oil. In Canada, they team up with Petro-Canada Lubricants. The engine assembly plants in Mexico and USA probably get shipped one of those for the initial fill I would guess.

Anyway, my first Blackstone oil analysis done on my full synthetic Motorcraft oil was very complimentary:)
