...all of which has nothing to do with the topic at hand, trim levels and what you would pick today if you had to do it again. Thanks, but I fully understand the mechanical differences between 2022-24 vs 2025+. None of those improvements would have any impact on what trim level I would choose to buy today.
Which is why I commented on your post in the first place. Have a good day.

Lariat. I love the features it does provide even if I wish there were a few more.

And did owning your current one change your opinion at all?

I feel like when these trucks first came out everyone thought one trim was clearly the “best” depending on budget/use, but after actually living with them for a few years now I feel like opinions changed a lot.

XL:
• cheapest/simple
• steelies honestly became part of the Maverick look at this point
• probably the best blank canvas
• but also missing a lot of stuff people later wish they had

XLT:
• feels like the trim most people ended up buying
• solid middle ground
• better looks/features without getting too crazy on price
• probably the “safest” choice overall

Lariat:
• definitely feels the most complete
• nicer interior/tech/features
• best daily driver?
• but the price climbs FAST

Tremor:
• one of the coolest looking trims Ford made honestly
• feels way more aggressive from factory
• some people love it
• other people think it’s overpriced and would rather build an FX4 themselves

Lobo:
• probably the most controversial Maverick now
• some people think it’s sick Ford finally made a street version
• others think lowering a truck completely defeats the point 😭

What’s funny is I feel like BEFORE ownership everyone shops based on price…

But AFTER ownership people care way more about:
• comfort
• looks
• daily driving
• practicality
• uniqueness
• whether the trim still feels worth the money later on

So if you could reorder today what trim are you going with?
Does this mean that you would stay with the same trim you have now?

The trims have different features than they did in 2024 when my Maverick was built. So I would have to research what features were on each trim. 2027 Ford will change them again so until I am going to replace mine I can't answer. I will say that when I went to look at a 2025 hybrid Lariat in RR I did not like the blue interior. But on my 2024 Atlas Blue Lariat the blue interior looks great. Also the 2024 models didn't have Sirius radio in the xlt I was looking at originally so I stepped up to the Lariat. Many will say satellite radio is unneeded or expensive or foolish. Guilty as charged but I want it, can afford it, and I am the one driving the truck so my opinion matters only 😁 . Unless Ford improves the quality of the interior in the next iteration I doubt I would buy another Maverick anyways. I have never bought the same model as I was replacing in my 50 years of driving.

I would definitely buy the Lariat. I settled for the XLT because they didn't have a Lariat in stock in the colors I wanted. The wheels, the interior, the auto windows are a few things I want. I'm an old guy and this is probably my last new vehicle, so the XLT is ok.

I don't normally quote my own posts, but it appears that I didn't give enough infomation for people to understand the point I'm trying to get across in my original one. Sometimes I expect people to make the correct assumptions about what I'm saying, and I shouldn't do that, so here it is with further detail:

I would probably would still pick XLT, but unfortunately I can't get a new Maverick appointed like my current one, which is perfect for me.
Why is this relevant to the topic? Because it was a no-brainer for me to choose the XLT package for MY2024 to get the exact options I wanted. Unfortunately MY2025+ trim levels impose some forced optioning that would require me to pay for a lot of functionality that I don't want or need. This makes the XLT trim level for MY2025+ not as easy to choose for me as it was for MY2024. Another option would be to choose XL and add a lot of aftermarket parts to get exactly what I want (or closer to it), but that may very well in the end cost as much as XLT, and also possibly have warranty impacts.

Forcing lux on the FX4 and Co-pilot 360 on the 4K package is bullshit, and would increase the price a few thousand for options I don't need or want. Considering that and the de-contented gauge cluster, I'm sure glad I bought a 2024 and didn't wait for Gen 2.
Why is this relevant to the topic? I'm further explaining the forced optioning/decontenting that is implied by MY2025+ and how the trim levels vary from what was offered in MY2024. For instance, MY2024 allowed XLT or Lariat for FX4. MY2025+ now requires XLT trim for FX4, and also forces the luxury package when combined with FX4, which I don't want or need. This further makes it more difficult for me to select a trim level that I want to pay for. Should I buy an XL, add recovery points, tow hooks, etc.? That's probably cost-prohibitive just like paying for the additional XLT content I don't need. In comparison to MY2024, MY2025+ with the options I want is now $4K more, but I realize not all of the price increase is due to the difference in options. Also, but beside the point, the additon of multiport fuel injection (the only meaningful powertrain upgrade to Ecoboost between model years) doesn't make the extra price worth it to me either.

I am aware that this forced-optioning and decontenting is normal for Ford at the first refresh of any model as they streamline manufacturing to reduce costs. But, again, due to these changes I'm unsure of which way I would go with trim level. I'm actually not 100% sure I would buy a MY2025+ Maverick at all, and that's why I'm glad I bought a MY2024 and didn't wait, because XLT trim gave me exactly what I wanted without any extra "fluff", and nothing de-contented.

I fully understand the high markup/profit manufacturers make from higher trim levels. But over the decades I've fully accepted this and am ready to pay up for one reason: time spent behind the wheel. If you spend any considerable amount of time doing anything you should have the best equipment for the best experience. Life's short.

P.S. Sirius XM all the way!

Just a couple clarifications:
The 4 or 7 pin trailer connections are not tied to the trim level, just the addition, or lack of the 4k tow package.
The 12v connectors in the bed do not have the amperage or wire gauge to support much of an inverter if at all, no where near 400w.
Point taken regarding towing connectors that I was aware of, but useful to highlight.
My point was that you can upgrade the XL to include some features that exceed what you get in the standard features of the XLT for about the same price, as there was/is? a $2500 difference between the trims.

Also true about the wattage capability of the 12 volt system, but then a continuous 33 amp load won't be kind to the battery.

400 watts sounds like a lot but there are many power tools and appliances which will exceed that capability. A better alternative would be a separate power supply, which is typical to provide an inverter with a source that won't drain the standard 12 volt supply.

For someone who wants a moderate source of AC power, it might be a reason to choose the XLT trim, although feedback on the quality of the inverter hasn't been all that great.
If I wanted to add that capability, I easily could. Some folks might not be so handy.

I think there are good reasons to choose any of the trim levels, as they offer some different alternatives depending on the needs of the owner.

If the trucklett is often driven in freezing weather, heated seats and steering would be a good reason for the XLT, if you also add the lux package, but that adds $5000 over the list price of the XL.

The XL as I equipped it was the best choice for me. YMMV..

That is pretty much true for all manufacturers.
A la carte options seem few and far between.
Try to get cable or a satellite service without paying for all of the dead wood channels you never will watch. Fortunately, there's a Roku fix for that.

In the case of Ford, and most other car makers, if they made all the choices optional, it would not only be more difficult to manufacture, but it would likely lower the profit margin, as there would be no reason to order a more expensive trim level, when you could add everything you want to the base model. The maker makes money by including options you don't need or want.

Good points on the rest of your post, as there are many model year differences that make assigning a future trim level buying decision a dubious exercise, as the trims are a moving target.

I agree with your assessment.

I've found, with Ford at least, the end of the first run before the first model refresh is a good time to buy to get a good balance of more a la carte options vs. fewer recalls & manufacturing issues. I would say my 2024 is a good example of this, with only 2 recalls so far, and no rattles (which is probably just good luck vs anything else).

The same thing happened with my "Job 2" 2012 Focus. The issues had been worked through in "Job 1", and in 2013 or 2014 a major round of forced optioning and de-contenting occurred making it impossible to equip one like mine. I would theorize that this might even more prevalent in lower-cost vehicles like the Maverick and Focus to keep the profit margin up.

Agreed..
I'd add that the only thing worse than getting multiple recalls is having endemic problems that don't get recalled. Subaru has been infamous for their ability to foot drag over some major issues.

Although there have been several recalls on my MY25, they were minor, and didn't seem to affect my vehicle. In any case, I give Ford points for stepping up.

In my post on hybred vs ecoboost, I stated that I don't like to spend a big ole bunch of money on what I consider a tool to get me to and from places. I need reliability over all else. I did fork out extra money for some creature comforts and even optional safety packages but the total cost for reliable transportation was low.

I don't need premium leather (I don't like hot leather on a summer day anyway). I don't need blacked out badges. I don't know what all features you get for extra money but the XLT met my base needs plus.

The only thing I wish I had on my XLT is the adaptive cruise control. It would mke raod trips easier. Not to worry. Using these forums, I'm working on adding that feature.

They got rid of the best option. Lariat with FX4/4K tow. Whoever Ford made that call needs fired!

Xl just like last time - especially with the escalated pricing since 2022, no prob paying 21k back then, this time it would be 30k - no way would I ever pay any additional $ to upgrade any trim. It's a mode of transportation, the rest of the stuff is unneeded.
