In both the slotted version, wouldn't that give someone an opportunity to rob your house assuming the garage is attached and the opener is in plain view? Or the center console version, if they get in and start rummaging through?

I have mine hidden in a really secret spot that I rather not reveal for obvious reasons.

Picked up a auto dimming mirror with home link from a Nissan Murano at a local scrap yard for $25
Its about 1/4" bigger height wise but very close to the same size as the Maverick.
Not sure I like the compass part

Were you able to conceal the wires I'm assuming you had to splice them in? Also does it slide on the original mount on the windshield?

Thank you so much that's very helpful. I love the idea that it only works when the car is on. I'm off to find a replacement mirror 🙏

That's my thought. Someone breaks into your car and they can get your address via the registration and a way into the garage with the fob. 82% of people don't even lock the door on a connecting garage all the time.

You have a better chance that a burglar will pry open your vinyl window on the first floor and climb in. If you are SERIOUS about preventing burglars please put diamond plate covers over ALL glass in your home. :D

Percentage of Break-ins by Entry Point:
  • Front Door: 34%
  • First-Floor Windows: 23%
  • Back Door: 22%
  • Garage/Basement: 9%

That's for crooks looking to get into a house but those looking to steal from a car and then see the easy access from a garage remote may take advantage. If not the house but to grab somethings from the garage as well. Don't ask me how I know smh

Me too. I’ve tried different ways even set up Siri commands from my iPhone but I ended up going back to this.
If you have the Chamberlain opener, you can use their MyQ hub to communicate with it. And control it via an app on your phone. However, the current version of the app does not allow anything (siri, alexa, etc.) to communicate with it. The only solution I can come up with is to install a Ring camera in the garage and have Alexa check that. So far, no beans...

Yep.
I know the owner of a window replacement company. When I had the vinyl shop we sold paint protection film / PPF. I tried an experiment using Automotive self healing ppf film on residential window glass. Properly installed it will withstand hits from a baseball bat without allowing entry. I took end rolls of ppf and installed it inside and out on all my downstairs windows. I've had a steel security screen door for the last 25 years.
Service door in the garage is behind the brick wall and has a steel rod that goes into the concrete. It ain't pretty but that door is not coming open.

Neither, We've never had a break-in on our cul-de-sac. Why wait?
When we spend summers in Utah. I don't have to worry about the house being unoccupied.
And when we are home.
I want to damn well know if somebody is trying to break in, so I can act accordingly.😉
Tweakers and homeless are pretty opportunistic and lazy. If they see a formidable barrier they'll move on to the next house. What we have are folks who live by robbing and burglarizing and they will travel from their side of town where nobody has shit, to a better side of town where they know people own better stuff. So, you don't have to live in the crap side of town to have your house broken into. Those folks learned to "shop" in the better side of town. Don't get me started on Lie Enforcement we just want to talk foot, in the door scenario or wrong address raids...

My final thought.
Being Proactive instead of Reactive saves me from having to Repair and Redecorate. 😲
I keep the the people I don't want in my house out of my house.

I've used a Meross Smart Garage Door opener for about 8 years now.

"Hey Google open the garage door," haven't used a button since.

Even better, it gives notifications when the garage door has been opened or closed, or left open after a specified time.

$26, Apple version $39
I’m a button man myself. And dont like talking to inanimate objects if I can help it. I supposed I could voice command my dog to open the garage door - but the remote button is just so much easier!
