Hey all! Below is my video on how to swap your axles if you're looking into doing it yourself. I voided my warranty because I lowered my XLT. So, I went through purchasing and replacing my own. I also upgraded to the Tremor CV axles while I was at it! (Ecoboost only, Hybrids, this would be just a replacement video, not a Tremor upgrade for you) Hope it helps!

Torque Values verified from Ford manual found here:
https://cardiagn.com/2021-2022-ford-maverick-p758-workshop-manual-incl-owners-manual/

Axle Nut: Step 1- 76 lb.ft TQ
Step 2- 45 Degrees

Shock Bolts: Step 1- 103 lb.ft TQ
Step 2- 120 Degrees

Sway Bar End Link Bolt: 81 lb.ft TQ

Brake Caliper Bolts: 81 lb.ft TQ

Part Numbers:
Driver-side CV Axle: PZ6Z-3B437-A
Passenger-side CV Axle: PZ6Z-3B436-A
Axle Nut: CCPZ-3B477-G

Thank you for posting your video and the above information. I noticed my CV leaking grease from the outer, drivers side, front joint yesterday as I rotated my tires at the 8.5K mile mark (put on off-roaders at 3.5K). Didn't find any other damage though. Oh, i drive a 2023 Fx4 w 4K tow modded with Flatout Suspension lift kit. Anyway, I took it in today and the mechanic verified that it was just the clamp over the boot that went bad and came loose. He re-greased the CV and replaced the clamp. I do have a question for you in case a CV actaully goes bad some time in the future..... Did you have to modify the Tremor CV Axles to fit the Fx4 model or did they bolt-on with no issues? If you did not modify anything, does the fact that the Tremor axles are shorter cause any other secondary issues?

I don’t have an FX4 model so I wouldn’t be able to tell you but I’d imagine there shouldn’t be any modifications needed for the front axles. I can’t verify for sure but I don’t see why Ford would need to change the lengths for the front ones like that.

Just curious, I heard the 2025 hybrid axles were beefed up, is this true, or just a rumor?

this is not really an ideal place to ask since the ecoboost and tremor front axles are different from hybrid whether we're talking about 22-24 or 25+.

search for a more relevant thread or start one would be my 2 suggestions.

considering they mentioned this wouldn't work on hybrids it's a perfectly good question in here, you don't have to be rude about it. And yes when I have time I'll search and post.

It’s was rude for you to steer him to other MTC posts that have covered the topic of hybrid axles, rather than for you to look up those posts yourself, then type out a lengthy answer that summarizes all of the information he is looking for. 🤣

How many miles do you have on the tremor axles now ?

My truck is vibrating on acceleration Again. Was replaced last year under warranty for the same issue. Now it's doing it again to the point I have to keep it in eco mode just to be drivable "less throttle acceleration".

I was going to start with passanger side and just replace the short axle part and not the mid shaft. Is this what u did ?

Wait, what? Dis they replace both sides? If so, you should have 15k miles of pristine driving.

if they only changed one side, then take it back to them and force them to change the other side under warranty.

Well, I just got my car back. Replaced both of my axles with the latest (3rd gen) versions after having it already replaced with the same original version back in 02/24. Whopping $1,334 after significant discounts by the dealership. They had it at the shop for over a week trying to get this replaced for free due to it having been replaced already. Ford will only cover warranty parts for 1 year, which I surpassed.

I am extremely frustrated and will honestly never purchase a Ford vehicle again. I put a lot of miles in - 120,000 in 2.5 years - and got completely screwed because of it. The icing on the cake for me was the lack of accountability by Ford. I have called over a dozen times in the recent week to their Customer Support number and spoken with many reps who all tell me that there is nothing that they can do. No escalation, nothing. A dead end on something that is a safety concern and can eventually kill someone.

Ford doesn't care about their customers so I will stay away from them in the future. What a shame... I absolutely love this truck and had vowed to purchase the current one when I am ready. I guess I didn't mind the many recalls as they were all covered but am now concerned about what the future holds.

If you go to AI and ask what is the average life expectancy of the CV joints of any pickup, say a Colorado, Silverado, frontier or Tacoma, it’s going to tell you that it’s somewhere between 70k and 130k miles. It’s a wear part. They wear out.

You had a decent run on yours. Some people get less than 20k on Maverick CV’s, because yeah, they were designed for a 2,723 lb, 2019, 4th gen Ford Focus with a 25.3” diameter tire, with a tire weight of 22 lbs and 5” of ground clearance.

When you use that cv joint on a 3,800 lb pickup with a 28.5” diameter tire and 8.5” ground clearance, they are going to start failing a lot faster.

They should have redesigned it before putting them on the Maverick. Eventually they did redesign them.

The HYBRID CV axle has been upgraded again to the newest number being SZ6Z-3B436-E. I swapped my front passenger out over the weekend. It was about a 3-hour job....

Both NZ6Z-3B436-F and the SZ6Z family of parts (e.g., SZ6Z-3B436-E) are genuine Ford front CV axle shafts designed for the Ford Maverick. [1, 2]
The key difference is that the SZ6Z part numbers are superseding, upgraded revisions meant to replace the older NZ6Z axle designs. [1, 2, 3]
The part numbers compare as follows:
  • NZ6Z-3B436-F: An earlier design of the front right axle shaft. These parts were often subject to replacement due to grease-slinging or failure issues common in early Maverick models. [1, 2]
  • SZ6Z-3B436 Series (e.g., SZ6Z-3B436-E): The updated, heavier-duty "new and improved" CV axle revision currently used by Ford. It is designed to directly replace the older NZ6Z-3B436-F and NZ6Z-3B436-C assemblies. [1, 2, 3]
