CV Axle Replacement DIY How-To (and upgrade to Tremor CV)

Hey all! Below is my video on how to swap your axles if you're looking into doing it yourself. I voided my warranty because I lowered my XLT. So, I went through purchasing and replacing my own. I also upgraded to the Tremor CV axles while I was at it! (Ecoboost only, Hybrids, this would be just a replacement video, not a Tremor upgrade for you) Hope it helps!

Torque Values verified from Ford manual found here:

Axle Nut: Step 1- 76 lb.ft TQ
Step 2- 45 Degrees

Shock Bolts: Step 1- 103 lb.ft TQ
Step 2- 120 Degrees

Sway Bar End Link Bolt: 81 lb.ft TQ

Brake Caliper Bolts: 81 lb.ft TQ

Part Numbers:
Driver-side CV Axle: PZ6Z-3B437-A
Passenger-side CV Axle: PZ6Z-3B436-A
Axle Nut: CCPZ-3B477-G

they don't fit hybrid, fyi. the axle lengths are not the same because of the transaxle differences.

No, mine is the AWD. I'm pretty sure the steps would be the same though. But I don't think you'd be able to upgrade to the Tremor axle like I did. It would just have to be a replacement with the same part.

Part numbers for all 4 Tremor axles and for comparison the part numbers for the other options.

These part numbers are for the 2 front axles. The rear ones are different as well.

Front axles for Tremor
PZ6Z-3B436-A
PZ6Z-3B437-A

Front axles for AWD and FX4
NZ6Z-3B437-A
NZ6Z-3B436-B

Front axles for FWD
NZ6Z-3B436-A
NZ6Z-3B437-A

The FWD and AWD have the same part number for the left axle.
All Tremor axles are unique to the Tremor.

Rear axles Tremor
PZ6Z-4K138-A
PZ6Z-4K139-A

Rear axles AWD & FX4
NZ6Z-4K138-A
NZ6Z-4K139-A

The hybrid has its own part numbers.

NZ6Z-3B436-F
NZ6Z-3B437-B

Bronco sport has part numbers unique to it and are not shared with the Maverick.

The magnuson moss warranty act requires manufacturers to honor their warranties. If they deny warranty service because of a aftermarket modification, they have to prove that the modification caused a “non-defective” part to fail. But there is plenty of evidence that 2022-2024 Maverick CV axles are inherently defective. Most premature CV failures are in non-modified vehicles. The problem is significant enough that they ran out of replacement parts, causing a backlog of orders for them. And the defect is significant enough that they have redesigned the part for 2025.
