Nope, I knew he was telling the truth about cops lying.

However, police officers are legally empowered to use deception and other types of lies during interrogations. This ability originates from the 1969 Supreme Court case Frazier v. Cupp, which ruled specific police lies were permissible.
I get what you're saying now.

I had a similar experience when growing up when a neighbor who was a cop told me and my friends to not answer cops questions if we got in trouble.

He said they will make it sound like they are trying to help you when in fact they are seeking incriminating evidence.

Had mine 16 months now and not one comment. I think, because Ford did such a good job of making it look like a traditional pick-up, most non pick-up people don't realize it's different. Most pick-up oriented people knew by the time I got mine what it is.

When I first got mine I’d get someone every few weeks ask me “Is that the new Ranger?” or “Can I look at it I’m thinking about getting one.” They never approached me, but the last one I got was I heard someone say “That’s a nice color”(HPR) when I had it in a parking garage for a few hours. They were staring at it when they said it, so I’m pretty sure they were talking about me!

When we first got ours, I noticed people liked to ride just off my quarter panel on the highway. Right where you prefer they don't. I could see them because of the mirror design, but they were too close for me to change lanes when I wanted. Really made me mad until I figured they were getting a closer look.
Since then I've had a couple people ask about it. One guy wanted to sit in it.
I did have one guy in a jacked up Silverado make a comment "that's a cute little truck you got there" at a red light once. I just looked at him and said "At least I'm not compensating".
His buddy in the passenger seat laughed hysterically and I drove off.

A few at first but nowhere near the positive comments and questions I got when I had my Bronco Sport.

It’s funny…the Maverick is considered an inexpensive truck, yet I’ve gotten more comments on it than any other vehicle I’ve owned.

Just today I got into a long chat with a cool war veteran who was disabled. He was really into the Maverick and was thinking of buying one.

I’ve noticed this happens a lot. Anyone else?

All the time, and I sometimes comment on others when I see them. Mavericks seem to have a kind of a cult following.

Maybe so but saying hi or having a random conversation like you would anyone else isnt interrogation when they are walking around in public. They are regular people. I work with many. Some I dont particularly care for and some are outside on their own time working food banks outside in 10 degree weather. Its not the profession its the person and their choices that make them what they are.

I received a lot more comments in late 2021 when I drove my first Maverick home. :)

I had the opposite situation happen where I tried talking to someone else about their Maverick. A younger couple that live 4 blocks away, that happen to be on my dog walking route, brought home a new Maverick. He was just getting out of it and walking towards his house and I made a comment to him about his new Maverick.

He quickly said something back, but didn't seem to be the least bit interested it talking about Mavericks and just kept walking. I didn't take it personal. Lot's of different people in this world with lot's of stuff going on in their lives. On a different day it may have been very different interaction.

Or maybe I just seem like a creepy old dog guy?

Have only had a few. I live in the country, so it's F-150/F-250 country. I tell people it's my daily driver (which it is).

a Rivian owner came up to me and asked me what my mileage was in my lariat hybrid and I told him I averaged around 35 and he said he wish he would’ve saved 100 grand and bought Maverick. He does not like all the problems he’s having with his Rivian. He hates the charging anxiety on trips to Cally from AZ.

Old knowledge, was like that back in the 70’s. Always was.

Cops are often in arrest mode.

But I’m smarter than they are so I often talk to them without fear of consequences.
Think about it, they strap on a gun, get in that patrol car and don’t get paid near enough for the danger they put themselves in.
Not the smartest thing to do,
But I support them and would defend one with my life if it came to that.
Just like women and Lawyers,
Can’t live with them or without them.
Cops are a critical component of society.
I’ve been arrested twice and had no problem with the police doing their job.
I’m a vet and I exercise my rights, talking bout the 2nd one. I let them know it.

An armed society is a polite society.
I shall not be Infringed.
