My 24 XL hybrid does not have a hitch receiver. Thinking of getting one installed. A local quoted me $500 for installation, including wiring. Or should I go to Ford (I have no idea what they would charge). Anyone have any experience with this?

I consider $500 installed with wiring good price. I do not think you will do better at Ford.
Below you will find a couple links that you may want to look through and get an idea of what is involved.
It's really a shame that for $100 extra, the truck was ordered without the hitch and wiring.

Agreed but this is what they had on the lot when I was looking and it was below MSRP so I figured I could fix it once I got my hands on it.

I wasn't implying you ordered it that way. I was saying that somebody ordered it without the $100 hitch option. Kind of foolish when you consider what you get for $100.
$500 or more to put one on after the fact.
That's the thing about buying off the lot or used you. Get what they got.

I hear what you're saying.
I may never tow with the Maverick, we have another truck for that.
With the Maverick, It is easier for me to use a bike rack, than it is for me to remove the bed cover and try to lift out E-Bikes into the bed of the truck.

Can you install a hitch/wiring other than an OEM one? I thought that it will void the warranty. I am considering options but not sure. Thanks

🤔Have you called your dealership yet.?
This is what they said:
Installing custom wiring on a Ford vehicle generally does not automatically void the entire factory warranty due to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, but it can potentially prevent coverage for issues directly related to the custom wiring installation if it causes damage to other components of the vehicle. So it is a leap of faith,,,

That sounds reasonable to me.
You may also consider this post from a different thread.

IMO, I would use the Curt plug & play product. The Ford aftermarket uses Scotchlok-type connectors, which can be problematic.

HRG
You may want to touch base with "HRG" and find out what problems there were with the Ford connectors.
You could be better off with less problems going with the complete Curt hitch kit.
Good luck keep us updated.

Thanks, I will probably go with the Curt kit you recommended, found a guy that installs it for $510, kit and labor! good deal I think

aftermarket hitch won't cause problems
be careful and do your research on wiring, this is where you can cause problems either with substandard install or problematic product
