I am soooo happy with my "Hybrid 1st Edition Rapid Red" decision! I get it and agree the XLT is a great sweat spot choice, but I use and appreciate everything that came with my Maverick for $33K.
LOVE:
  1. The interior looks / comfort (active-x seats, Color, larger driver display, style & storage) I have a Border Collie so having the Active-x seats is a MUST due to her fur!
  2. Infotainment Sync-3 / B&O, absolutely no complaints (added wireless Android Auto) I also did the hack to play youtube / movies / web browsing.
  3. Sun ROOF & remote Rear Window control - I use them every time I get in the Mav!
  4. All the Remote / Keyless start (push button) features is really convenient.
  5. Single touch up/down on ALL windows from the driver control. Awesome b/c of my dog!
  6. GAS mileage is wonderful!!! Especially when it was over $6 /per gal.
  7. Exterior - LOVE, LOVE the Rapid Red!
  8. Spray in Bed Liner & Tonneau cover.
  9. Adaptive Cruise Control - I've never had this before, but am very much getting used to it.
  10. All the other driving safety stuff, getting used to them as well with no complaints at all.
  11. Heated Seats / steering wheel / outside mirrors. I'm in SoCal and haven't used them much yet, but when I have... I liked it.
  12. More driver seat controls w/ lumbar adjustment. If I didn't have this I would probably get used to it, but having it is really nice.
  13. Dual climate controls is also something that will come in handy at some point.
  14. Acoustic Windshield... without being able to compare a Mav without it I don't know, but I have learned that the replacement cost is $1500.00
I agree with everything except the color - Hot Pepper Red metallic for me! ;-)

No luck needed... its just a personal preference. Nothing wrong with the XLT....both my 2016 and 2021 F150s are both XLTs... perhaps more optioned than most Lariats but XLTs all the same. Convenience is more important to me. Cost is merely a figure. Whi cares what something cost if you enjoy it. Money is as easy to make these days as it is to spend. Trust me, I'm tired. Lol
I agree with you it is a matter of preference and what you want.I hear you about the money too.

So you are saying that when it starts raining, and you have the rear slider open, that it's not to hard to just get out, open the back door and close it? Great reasoning. As far as B&O, I never mentioned this... lol. Also just ordered a 2023.... you guessed it Lariat. ;)
For 30 years I lived with a visor over the rear window of my ‘92 Toyota pu.
Sure do wish someone made one for the Mav.
Although this is not a Toyota……..here’s a pic of one……..

And yet my "order accepted" letter from Ford confirming my order for a '23 Lariat Hybrid says "vinyl seats" plain as day... LOL

PS - I'd really prefer cloth over ActiveX or even leather (since it's not perforated and there's no vented seat option). But to get ACC, you gotta get the ActiveX. I'll live with it.
Mine says ActiveX, I guess they ran out of the good stuff and mines in my driveway.
Seats are really soft and smooth like leather.

I just checked my old order accepted letter. It doesn’t mention anything about the seats. Are you trolling or are they not doing ActiveX in the 2023 Lariat?

My Lariat Hybrid says ActiveX in the email, and I can’t imagine they changed it during the send out. Maybe they did the black appearance package or tremor and the wording is different?

I misspoke. It is the preview order document they gave me that states "vinyl" just above "ebony" on the printout. The actual order acceptance letter says "Black Onyx ActiveX Trimmed Bucket Front-Seats".

The point at issue was that ActiveX is fundamentally equivalent to vinyl, even to Ford. It's a very nice material, that looks and feels like quality leather, but it basically a vinyl-type material. Good for spills and scuff-resistance, but a bit hotter and "sweatier" than cloth (or even real leather) would be. For me, it's a small compromise to get the other features I want in my Maverick.

I ordered an XLT but I’m not going to pretend it’s because I “didn’t want” a lariat. It’s because I didn’t want to pay more. If it was the price of an XLT why not? It’s not like being more comfortable is a bad thing.

The only way to get acc and lane centering is to get the lariat lux (and both gp360 add ons). While the acc and lane centering are really, really nice for long trips (without towing) mine will be used for shorter trips and towing (2.0 4k was important to me). I could not talk myself up the ~ $5K to $6K for the acc and lane centering. The activex seats are nice along with all the other interior amenities but they are just not important to me. I may regret not ordering the full package (lariat lux with acc and lane centering) but I think I will be happy with what I ordered.

I was like that on my My22, I love it, but there are features on the Lariat that I miss, so for My23, I ordered a Lariat. Also, the upgraded SYNC will help with the issues many have daily.

I wanted Lariat for the power rear slider and assist. The vinyl/leather seats were a no go for me though. I absolutely hate leather seats so I went XLT. If there was a cloth option for Lariat I would have gone that route.

Didn't feel like paying extra for an option I hated just to get it then pay extra to cover up the option I hated. The two things I wanted were not worth all that extra.

Same here!

Plus I don't want a push button ignition. I leave the keys in my truck, and the key fob battery only lasts a few months if you do that. Love that entry pad.

I never even gave that a thought. I never take keys out of my rigs or lock them when at home. I'll have to remember that. Ordered the wife a Bronco Sport as well and it'll have push button start. Never had that option on anything before so that's new information to me. Appreciate the heads up.

I can't speak to the math on the 2023, but for the 2022, I think the Lauriat Lux was a great deal. The acoustic windshield alone and the LED lights are $1,500 each. When you look at everything that is included it seemed like a bargain. Also, there is residual value there as well. When you trade, you will get some of that additional cost back. The per year cost of the extra stuff would be a couple hundred dollars.
