Thank you for a reasonable answer with actual data. That would make sense
You don't want an answer or a discussion. You want to complain. Got it. Sorry for trying to help.

I'm a Lariat owner. The lack of wireless android auto doesn't bother me at all. Pumping music, maps and gosh knows what else would probably toast my battery really quick. Sure, I could put it on the wireless charger but then my phone gets SUPER hot (which I'm pretty sure isn't good for it).

I guess all the people piling on like I'm a moron are missing the point I'm asking. The hardware is there... The closest competitor has it (and yes the Santa Cruz is a close competitor).

So does anyone had an actual potential reason or theory to discuss? Because the cheap truck reason doesn't make sense when it has android auto, wifi, and Bluetooth. The parts are there...
The base radio barely has enough processing power to keep wired AA stable. Sync 4 has just came out and again doesnt include wireless Carplay until higher trims. Its either A.) packaging item to bundle up goodies like ford likes to do or B.) You need a more expensive unit and across the line youd could expect a solid jump in MSRP.

And while yes The SC has it, it also doesn't have a hybrid. I don't think its uncommon for OEMs tot often withhold features to then entice buyers to the next upgraded model.

Chip shortage.
They ended up with 8” Sync 3.
Notice how the display is not centered over the buttons, and we have that cubby? That is because they had planned for a 10” Sync 4 screen; like you will see on the ‘23 Escape.
Not enough chips, so lower profit vehicle gets the short end of the stick.
Be mindful, Sync 3 is only on Lariat Lux, all other models(Even lariat base) have just a Base ford radio.

Plus Sync is meh at best anyways.
Mine has been flawless in the 5 months I've owned it. No issues with AA or Carplay(when I use my jailbroken SE.)
Screen2Auto lets you use pretty much any app(minus DRM video) on the head unit itself.
Every complaint I've seen about the radio has been with the non Sync 3 version.

My XLT has the base system. I guess maybe I got lucky and being at the very end of the 2022 run, the software got it's glitches out, as it's wired AA connection is just as stable as any OEM I've come across... And I LITERALLY do this for a living. Anywho, I could get into the detailed specifics of why more is needed than a 'wifi' modem to do AA, but it would probably just annoy the OP. Essentially the radio itself doesn't have the needed wifi, Bluetooth, software combination, not to mention the licensing needed to be certified by Google, much less Apple (they have dumb... And mean fuc*ing DUMB requirements to be certified to use their tech.) Ford didn't invest in that for the Maverick. Luckily there are relatively reliable adapters... The CRUX and the Motorola are the two best currently.

Either way, aside from the ACC, Lane centering, smart keyeless entry, and maybe the acoustic windshield, everything else can be done better aftermarket cheaper.

All-in-all, I didn't feel the need to upgrade to the lariat, as I really disliked the seats, and my wife's last car ( Ford escape) has sync, and it was nothing but a headache after the first two years. The real pain, was the escapes radio was not replaceable... At all, and you couldn't add AA or CP to it.

Correct. More penny pinching because of chip shortage.
Escape has always had Sync 3 on all of its models, and I believe Bronco Sport as well.

I heard that most cars after 2022 may be equipped with wireless carplay or Android auto. If you don't plan to change your car, but still want to use wireless carplay or Android auto, just buy a carlinkit 4.0 https://carlinkitbox.com/products/c...o-2-in-1-wireless-adapter-for-factory-carplay like me, and use the coupon for about $85, you can easily solve this problem.
I plan on getting something like this. In the year until my '23 Maverick arrives who knows what product it'll be then. Just a shame considering wireless is viable that I need a decide floating around when it could be much cleaner.

Even if it had it, I'd have my phone plugged in anyway. Even though the Lariat will have wireless charging, I keep my phone in a beefy case that prevents it. So, while it would be a "nice to have" it is certainly not game breaking. At least for me.

Plus, Android auto sucks. And I say this as someone who uses it regularly. It's Google's "oh, right, we offer that" product.

One thing to keep in mind, is that the USB ports retain power for a long time after you turn off your Mav (like 1.5 hrs). So the device will be running during that. Not sure how much power it will draw during that time while it keeps hunting for a Bluetooth connection with your phone.

The AAWireless at least breaks the connection when the Android Auto connection with the truck ends after opening the door.

I'm a 12v tech as well. Was wondering how a technician would like the OE radio (as I haven't received my Maverick yet), nice to see another technician is satisfied with it. I'm still hoping though that Metra and iDatalink will come out with a solution for the aftermarket.

But The Bang & Olufsen system on the Lariat Lux is the sole reason I didn't go for the Lariat trim (aside from the ugly seat color like you mentioned). Out of the Ford factory amplified systems, B&O cars are the only ones you can't replace the radio on.

2 uses for me...
1. Reduced wear and tear on the phone's USB port (damaged my last phone on my Camry from it sliding around while plugged in)
2. Less contortion and struggling required to get it connected in the smaller car. Now I just get in, crank the car, and it connects.

I don't drive far, normally, so battery charge is not a concern for me, typically... The phone just stays in my pocket. For longer trips, there's a 2nd USB port that I can charge the phone with, if needed.
