No, they're referring to Ford deleting the vehicle hotspot ability. Will not affect using a wireless AA adapter to connect your phone and use it's cellular connection.
Good. Glad a dongle will still work. Some people might, but I have no use for hotspot capability.

Interesting topic gentlemen, I've always plugged the phone into the USB-C to charge it everytime I used my Mav. Is this purely for aesthetics so you don't see any wires (although the dongles I've seen look bulky) or is there additional functionality?

They're saving 3 seconds by not having to plug in, and not charging to boot. Also relying on Bluetooth for data transmission which can be flaky.

Has anyone tried one of the wireless dongles for Android Auto? I would definitely be interested in one if they work well
Amazon has one for $59.99 & works great on my 2021 Ford Eco Boost 3.5L Twin Turbo.

It's more not needing to have it plugged in, and not having to plug it in to the front console (resulting in the cord getting in the way and getting tangled up with things in the storage area). Wireless Android auto uses WiFi for data transmission not Bluetooth.

RIght but the dongle itself has a wire that's connected to a box that's going to clutter up that space anyway unless there exists one that has a very small footprint?

Mine tucks up underneath with Velcro and it virtually invisible.

Edit: here's a pic of the MA1...

I didnt know that the USB-C would charge and do data transfer at the same time through the USB-C port in the vehicle. If it will do that, then I dont have use for a dongle.

Not just the USB-C. If you have a passenger plug their phone into the older USB plug below the USB-C, sometimes the maverick will connect them both for data and cause a fight between the two phones for who wants to control the music, screen, maps app, etc.....

Tip is if all someone wants is to charge their phone, get a cigarette lighter adapter (like we can see is present in the photo above). The cigarette lighter is pure power and no data ability (as you would expect).

I planned on transferring my cigar lighter adaptor plug from my current daily driver to "The Mav"

I've used this 6" cord since I bought my truck. Works great, and doesn't get in the way.

That'd be great until I actually needed my phone. E.g., I have to scan a QR off my phone at a kiosk for getting in/out of the parking ramp at work. Nice to be able to do that without disconnecting from AA.

I'm not saying wireless AA is necessary, but it does effectively eliminate multiple minor annoyances a day. That's enough for me.

Also, with your wireless charging pad you'd have it made with the MA1. Just toss your phone on the pad and you're good to go

Oh, I've used Android Auto wireless and it didn't really improve anything for me to want to use it again.
The wireless charging pad in the lariat lux can't even keep up with charging the phone when you're streaming music, let alone using wireless Android Auto. Not to mention the added wear and heat on the battery while trying to do it.
But that's great if it works well for you.

What if I directly plug the phones USB-C to the vehicle USB-C connector? Then I wouldent need that as it would pipe it directly to the dash right?
Yes. If you plug into the usb it will show up on the radio display. You will use the screen to operate the maps app and Pandora
