I think it was a bonehead move on Ford to get rid of their most well-revered feature and now make it a $200 dealer-installed option. Sounds like corporate greed to me. And that's before labor. Factor that in and it'll probably be around $300 just for a keypad that was once standard from the factory, at least on the Lariat trim. I know it's not a big deal and it can be easily remedied by the dealer but I shouldn't have to do that. I love this feature on my '22 and I'm gonna hate having to add one from the dealer. Unless I gain some FordPass points to use towards it so it's not out of pocket, then it's no biggie at all. But still, c'mon Ford, you're known for that feature. You've been using it for the last 30 years plus. Don't get rid of it! Just thought I'd point this out and vent. Pointless overall but I'm sure others feel the same way.
Every Ford I have ever owned had this. I love it too. And the one from the dealer uses a non replaceable battery. So you have to buy a new one when it goes dead.

They dropped it altogether for MY24.
In the Lariat Luxury Package it lists a "Windshield Wiper De-Icer." Is that not the Wiper heater that they were talking about? What is the difference?

Same thing. It is gone for 24. If you are referring to the build page on Ford.com it isn't accurate. The order guide is king.

It wouldn't matter to me what it cost, my FAVORITE OPTION OF ALL TIME. Worth 200 bucks.

This is my wife's first Ford and she literally messaged me yesterday that she LOVE LOVE LOVES the keypad.

I remember back 20 yrs ago I was sitting in my SHO waiting for something and a friend walked buy and pushed the last 2 buttons to lock the doors LOL.

I use Android Auto because I have to now. I'm not a fan of it. The only way to stop it from recommending trips to me is to force Google to not remember anything - and I mean ANYTHING - I search for.
You can easily turn off location or search history in the phone settings, and if you mean the little AA box up top right corner you can swipe it away easily.

Love the keypad and wiper heater. Glad in so many ways to have a 23 and not the least of which is the fact a 24 would have set me back 3 Grand more.

And I will not be getting the manual sliding rear window or 400W 110V inverter after now waiting 14 months for what I ordered.

That sucks! I absolutely adore that feature and just said "I'll never buy another one without one!" That is one of your signature features Ford... quit nickel & diming us to death. It likely costs <$50 at the factory level. Crying shame... keep it up - chiseling away at the features (not even 2 key fobs, what the heck??) - that Hyundai is looking pretty good for my next one. You are quickly becoming NOT THE ONLY PRODUCT in town. Don't ruin what got you here in the first place Ford.

Dealer charged me $20....for not even five minutes of work
Lucky.
I asked and they said 0.1 hr so we'll round up to 1 hr labor. Didn't matter that I was buying the truck from them.

I feel your pain especially since it’s possible to lock your keys in the Maverick. Having the keypad is a bonus got my 23 two weeks ago and thankfully it was there. Stick on wireless ones are just not the same.

I liked the keypad on my Bronco Sport. Couldn't even tell it was there until you touched the column. My '23 XLT looks like an add on and they're getting rid of them for '24?
Ford Maverick Why No Keypad? keypad

The worst is no back up sensors!!! My last four Fords had them standard. Ford's cutting way to many corners.

I have it on my 23 bronco sport outer banks and really do like it. Wish it was on my 24 maverick I just picked up this week. I will likely look at adding the dealer installed one but like someone else said, I am not too sure about the aesthetics of a stick on key pad. One more thing no one has mentioned in this thread is the possibility that Ford dropped it for supply chain issues. They dropped it on the 24 Bronco Sports too. While I am not saying Ford is above making decisions like these based on profits alone, I would be surprised that they drop and add features like this from model year to model year just for financial reasons. There are various features like this that Ford has dropped one year and then added back the next. That seems more like supply chain issues to me.

IMHO the keypad is the greatest invention since sliced bread!!!!!🍞 The last time I touched my key fob was August 29th, 2022 at the dealer. 15K miles later, I have not once had to look for my keys. No "where are my keys???" and not having to carry them in a pocket, although not that difficult, sure is nice.;):)
