When are you doing your first Hybrid oil change?

I was going to do my first oil change at Five thousand miles on my hybrid, At about eighteen hundred miles I had to take a A unplanned trip to another State. So when I returned, I had about 3400 miles on it and decided to go ahead and get it changed. Since that was mostly high speed interstate Driving. I usually like to do my first oil Early.

Sorry I haven't read every post here but I keep seeing references to Ford not using synthetic oil from the factory? That seems unlikely to me but please do share some evidence.

In the past, my conventional thinking is do the first oil change at 500-1K miles to get rid of any manufacturing filings and what not. But I’m thinking I actually might wait until around 5K and gave it serviced by the dealer. This is based on @STARCOMMTREY1 commenting on his 1K oil change and the YouTube video showing clean oil at 5400 miles. It’s not really a cost consideration, it’s more a ‘does this really help any’. Not trying to waste oil, money for no reason.

What is everyone else thinking?

When the "oil life remaining" reaches 10% or one year whichever happens first.

I have had my Hybrid Maverick about two months and have only driven 685 miles and used 8% of the "oil life" so it seems likely that I will do it mid December 2022.

I had one that only had 1253 miles on it at 365 days the oil change light came on.

Good. It seems like it is taking "ever 12 months" into account" so no forgetting if 12 months has occurred.

Just did mine at 5000 miles and the oil I took out was still clean. I'm not a fan of the half sized filter they come with, but like I said the oil that came out was still clean so good enough. I will go an additional 10000 now and check it to see if I can really make the 15000 that the oil is rated for. According to the oil life indicator in the Maverick I was not 1/3 of the way to an oil change at 5000 so we'll see.

no computer tells me when to change my oil. I go by the shop rag test combined with miles/duration
