Was approaching 1,2xx miles. Pulled oil sample. Got report. Metals and silicone in oil. Also viscosity low. So visit dealer for oil n filter change. Blend oil fill.
Free, cause of points on new vehicle.

I prob go 3,000 miles, pull another sample see what numbers are. Decide if change oil then. And switch to full synthetic.

Might be a while. Have truck since Oct, not driving much, currently 1,8xx miles.

This is another very opinionated topic, I personally will change mine every 5k. Is that right? Maybe maybe not. I feel like changing fluids more frequently especially with a turbocharged vehicle is the easiest preventative measure you can take. I’m more than happy to change it more frequently just for peace of mind. If people want to change it by what the oil life indicates then go for it. I got my factory oil out of there around 1500 miles. Figured that was plenty of break in wear and wanted to get some fresh in there as soon as possible.

I prefer to switch to full synthetic at the first oil change. I haven't received my truck yet but plan on first oil change around 3-5K and after that probably 7500 on synthetic due to it being a turbo. I have run 10k oil change schedule on synthetic on my CMAX hybrid which has the same 2.5L motor of the maverick hybrid. I have had zero issues.

Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor™
Your vehicle has an Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor that determines when you should change the engine oil based on how you use your vehicle. By using several important factors in its calculations, the monitor helps reduce the cost of owning your vehicle and reduces environmental waste at the same time.
This means you do not have to remember to change the oil on a mileage-based schedule. Your vehicle lets you know when an oil change is due by displaying a message in the instrument cluster display.
The following table provides examples of vehicle use and its impact on oil change intervals. It is a guideline only. Actual oil change intervals depend on several factors and generally decrease with severity of use.

Interval
Vehicle Use and Example
When to Expect the OIL CHANGE REQUIRED Message
7,500–12,500 mi (12,000–20,000 km)
Normal
Normal commuting with highway driving No, or moderate, load or towing Flat to moderately hilly roads No extended idling
5,000–7,500 mi (8,000–12,000 km)
Severe
Moderate to heavy load or towing Mountainous or off-road conditions Extended idling Extended hot or cold operation
3,000–5,000 mi (5,000–8,000 km)
Extreme
Maximum load or towing Extreme hot or cold operation Extended engine idling

This is what the manual says. It says to follow the IOLM. It does not say 5000 miles.

As for your dealer, they recommend what brings they the most revenue for their service department.
Fully agree with this and it is exactly what my good friend who works in the truck engine team at Ford in Dearborn told me!

I did the first at 2,500. I Plan to do the next at 6,000. I have my oil analyzed, and after the 6k service I expect it to normalize. After that I may go as long as 8k between changes. I’m good with that because it’s a hybrid. I also have an EcoBoost F-150 and no way would I go more than 5k between changes. Fuel contamination of the oil and top end deposits are both well established occurrences and expected. Oil changes and use of top tier fuel are about the only things we can do to help the situation.

I expect in time many of these trucks will be shown to last hundreds of thousands of miles. Engine failure will probably not be at the top of the list of what takes them out of service. Even so, oil changes are easy and relatively inexpensive so I don’t skimp on them.

Just my 2 cents but I would say if it gives you peace of mind go ahead and do it early. Now at 12k miles I have already done 3 oil changes on mine.

I also did my first oil change at 2500 miles (23 XLT hybrid) I simply wanted to see if there was any material in the oil. Next change was at 6,000 miles. I will do the next oil change at 10,000 miles and every 5,000 after that. I only drive 5-6k a year so I am comfortable with that interval. Of course I could go longer on oil changes but I look at it as my thorough one year inspection of everything I can look at, CV axles, exhaust, look for leaks/seepage, etc...

I have a 2.0L Eco and did 4 changes so far and getting close to a fifth around 19K.
Here is what I used.
1 k oil & filter, magnetic plug and magnet on oil filter
4k oil & filter
11K oil & filter, removed magnet on filter
12k ptu & diff
14K oil & filter

When I did my second change I was still surprised at the amount of junk I was getting in the filter and on the plug so I kept the magnet on the filter.

At the 11K change the mag plug looked much cleaner so I decided I no longer needed a magnet (HF) on the filter too. I also used the longer version of the filter on this vehicle instead of the shorter one since it fit and still had clearance for the shield covering.

I would at the very least make sure you have a magnetic plug installed and cleaned for the first 15K to remove metal particles that are definitely present in the 2.0L and probably in the 2.5L engines too.

The argument for the early first oil change is that there might be bits of metal from the manufacturing process getting through the engine.

If that's the case start it up and have the dealership change it immediately. Even 500 miles would be too long if you really believed that.
