I have had my hybrid XLT for 3 months and the biggest gripes I have is the seat belt withdrawing to quickly, which someone else has said, and the alerts for the seat belts that pop up everytime that I start. I have gotten used to the key start and the seats have been comfortable for me so far and I have taken a couple long drives without issue. I just have to remember to take the antenna off everytime I go through the car wash, but that is my own worry and not an indication that it can't survive a car wash.

But those are minor and I deal with them. I feel lucky to have gotten a Hybrid at all and average 45 on my daily commute with almost 7,000 miles on it so far. I actually get stopped when filling up at gas stations or in parking lots by people who are interested in the truck and have never seen one. I have never had that happen with any car I owned.
Buy a small bullet anenna, I did and it works just as good as the big antenna.

Very positive about my 22 Maverick Hybrid XLT
3 negatives
1) interior plastic surfs easily
2) close to windshield and front side windows requiring ceramic tint on to cut down on suns rays and heat in Georgia sunshine
3) miss push button start with XLT
I live in Brunswick lets get together some time

Front end is too tall making it difficult to see how much space is ahead of me when parking.

Interior scratches so easy. Better clip your nails before getting in. Also, the backup camera is not user friendly, and I can't figure out why. Maybe I've been used to my wife's Mazda, but I can't get my truck centered by using the camera.

Funny becasue those are all my complaints and may have been solved with a Lariat. My only issue for not going Lariat is that the price would have just been to high. If I was going to spend near 40k I would have just gone with a slightly used Tecoma.
My lariat fully loade wit everything but the moon roof and first edition striping was only $32,200.00 not $40,000.00

Had my Hybrid XLT since December 2021. Love everything but.... no engine drive in reverse is a problem. I have a steep and relatively long driveway. My jetski and trailer combo is arguably 1200-1300 lbs. I overheated the electric motor/trans (warning was not specific) backing up my driveway to my rear property. Once the issue occurs, there is no reverse until cool down. Lesson learned, use my Chevy truck or 4Runner for towing. Just a Mav limitation. Towing in forward, absolutely no issue. I don't even feel the trailer.

Prices have gone up and I was talking after tax and license fees. My 2023 hybrid xlt well, not fully, optioned was $32k befor taxes. After taxes was $35k. All this with no dealer markup. I did get the blackout edition that did add about $1700 but I think it makes a lot of difference. Love the black accents and black interior.

Easily scratched plastics is my only concern or complaint. The sound system in my Lariat is more than adequate; cabin noise is a little on the loud side but not horrible; all in all I love my little truck!

My Ecoboost is expected to arrive any day now. While I twiddle my thumbs waiting for the call, tell me what you don't like about the Maverick so I can taper my expectations.

So far, I've heard of:
  • Bad speaker/sound system.
  • Noisy interior cabin
  • Easily scratched interior
My prior vehicle to the Maverick was a 1994 Ford Ranger that I drove for 29 years so any new truck feels like a luxury vehicle to me. My complaints are:
- no split rear seat
- infotainment sometimes makes me miss my old Ranger and the
USB management of music sometimes makes me miss 8-tracks
- biggest complaint is the weak hybrid battery - I don’t think
anyone would have minded paying more for a more robust
power source on the hybrid side
- my truck has had one recall but it is for the potential engine fire
and it is frustrating to guess how long it will take Ford to address
this and provide a solution
- battery deep/sleep
- some repairs will need to be done by a Ford dealership instead
of my regular mechanic

Even though I like the Mav very much, I plan on placing a order for a 2024 EB and trading in the hybrid if the order gets filled. Maybe just old school but after reading all the issues with hybrids and driving mine, I just feel like the EB will be a simpler and more reliable option long term.

The only thing I don't like is the blind spot caused by the low mounted rearview mirror, other than that nothing & I have had no issues in 15 months of ownership.
Being 6’2”, I agree about the rear view mirror. However over the years with other cars, I’ve learned that you can move the “arm” holding it up quite a bit and that can help. It helps me. Hopefully it helps you. None of the other issues such as sound system as we were able to score a fully loaded Lariat right from the dealer that wasn’t accepted by the orderer. Especially love the Blackout Package.
Had about 2 months now, and 2,600 miles. Awesome gas mileage with the Hybrid.

I’d like to add my 2 cents. I knew I was ordering a $20K truck, so my expectations weren’t real high. I’ve had my Hybrid XL for 3 months and I can honestly say that I have no complaints. Sure there’s some “cheap” plastic parts here and there, but for the $$$ I’m very happy.

Can you elaborate on what you mean about the weak hybrid battery? Is it weaker than other hybrid vehicles? My only comparison is my Sienna Hybrid which gets 10mpg less than my Mav.

Having to always switch OFF the engine start/stop and always have to toggle drive mode to ECO.

This is the first hybrid I have had so I’m unable to compare it to others. My comment is based on the results I see using EV Coach which gives you a picture of the hybrid battery charge while driving and this battery can go from full to empty in a heartbeat. And when it does you lose the extra hp until it can recharge. It doesn’t take long but then it empties quickly again. To be fair, this is not a problem with city driving with lots of stop and go but once you get in a rural area or inclines it can be very noticeable. And there have been many complaints about this battery and the deep sleep issue.

Yeah sometimes I have wondered why not a battery and motor with double the capacity. I'm guessing this motor/battery simply meets the price/performance targets Ford is aiming for. I just browsed around the internet what MPG other hybrids are getting and they seem to be in the same ballpark as the Maverick, for similarly sized vehicles. There must be some reason all manufacturers are sizing them that way.
