Did a search for red hot catalytic converter and came up with nothing except a click bait Youtube video. Maybe I'm searching on the wrong terms.

Not aware of any issues with regen braking what was that?

No DOA hybrid batteries ever reported that I am aware of. Maybe you are thinking of the battery harness issue?

This problem was over the winter with a few different members observing it. Ford pushed an update from what I gathered in March to fix it

There's a TSB to reprogram for vehicles experiencing this.
So fixed with software change?

Just get concerned when I see someone post something like "all the issues the Maverick is having". My impression was that it was relatively problem free considering it's a first year vehicle but always looking for information.

eCVT's more than other automatic transmissions? Which models did you often work on?
Not by any means, no. I only personally remember working on 2 eCVT failures. One had 200k miles, and the other was a sensor failure at ~60K. Remember one C-Max that threw a rod. Never personally saw a dead HVB come through. My point was that I'd be more worried about the mechanic components than I would be the HVB.

I was mainly an engine guy. Very rarely saw a failed hybrid drivetrain. Worked on a lot of them, just never for drivetrain. I believe in the reliability and that's why my order will be a hybrid (y)

I guess I can see that hybrid one being a bit pricey (still not $2-3k pricey) but more than a typical battery.
It's an entirely different technology than a regular car battery. You may not THINK it should cost that much but it does. I don't think a Ferrari should be $300k but that doesn't change the fact that it is. A Tesla Model S battery can be up to $20k to replace. Even if the owner doesn't think it should cost that much. New technology cost more money, that's just how the world works. If that is not something you are willing to pay for than you can get a great 2010 Ranger with a battery you can replace in the parking lot of AutoZone

Thats way more than I would expect, then again isn't the Volt a full EV?

My daughter had a prius that needed its hybrid battery replaced and it only cost her a bit over 1K. Still expensive, but not throw it away and buy a new car expensive.

Is the battery covered under the 8yr/100,000 miles warranty?
I was told 'yes' on a recent test drive, but I have not seen that in writing.

Plug-in hybrid. But that's a quote for OEM battery replacement; GM ain't keeping tons of spares around for 10 year old generations of a discontinued model. Aftermarket remanufactured batteries are like $8k. Just one of those anti-EV FUD memes

So the thing with these batteries- you're just charging them while braking and using them to push the generator to get going again (SUPER generally speaking). It's not like they're charged from a wall then used for extensive time or need to hold a charge for months.

It's really quite shocking when you look at how small they are compared to the vehicle. Nothing like I was expecting!

They are actually quite small as somewhere around 30-40% of their total capacity is charged when the ice runs and discharged in the time the ice is idle. Subject of course to demands that the HVB bus cannot deliver.
