I spent many months researching to go from a full size Silverado, prior had a F-150, to a small or mid-sized truck. Ruled out Toyota ans Nissan immediately because the ride and ingress is just as bad as what I had. Narrowed down to Ridgeline (never really card for Honda although being in a couple of their plants before and impressed) and Maverick. Many of the reviews and articles I read said Ford picked the name Maverick not as a nod to the old car but to the target customer demographic. They were targeting the 25 to 35 young environmentally conscious urban or suburban dwellers. I think the buyers are much older. I personally am 66 and the first time I saw one I thought "a 4 door Ranchero finally." Just curious if I am correct in my thinking but most of the drivers I have seen are at least over 40.
THOUGHTS?
I'm 72. Bought my '24 Hybrid to replace my 2016 Ford Flex, which I had bought used. I haven't purchased a new vehicle since my 1976 Toyota Landcruiser Wagon, but the Maverick appealed to me with its high gas mileage rating, comfort, and ability to haul stuff when I need to. My son-in-law had a 2022 and that is what motivated me to look at them when the Flex's extended warranty was running out. Glad I did.

Just bought one and I'm 61. Had GMC and F150 prior to this. Wanted a truck with the upscale (Lariat) but didn't want to break the bank. For construction work I needed a full 8 foot box but now i'm slowing down so it's more about wants.

Simple...the only reason a bunch of Geezers are buying the Mav is that they are too old to get their leg up in an F-150 or Superduty.....
Bought mine because my f-150 got 14 m.p.g. and the maverick gets 25-29 in the city. Win, win for me and my forever vehicle, of course unless someone hits me and totals it.🤧

83 years old and love my Maverick that I’ve had since Feb 2024. Thinking about buying another with 4 wheel drive.

I got lots of compliments on my daughter’s XL while I was driving it, and while I was waiting for that one, nobody I ever asked had a bad word to say about the one they were driving.

I’m 67 years old, but I never lost my thrill for vehicles. I still hold my license and race in SCCA Events (not in the Maverick), but I don’t think of myself as an old man looking for a hybrid. For a decade (or longer) I have said that if anyone built a small compact truck, I would buy it. Ford did, and I love my hybrid!

I got my 92 Ranger when I was 33 and LOVED it. Passed it on to one of my kids and it was totaled in 2007 when someone t-boned it. The Maverick is about the same size but better ride and roomier cabin. What is different on the LOBO compared to the Lariat?
The lobo has a unique front grill standard 19 inch wheels. Painted loweres different seats with double stitch. Upgraded front brakes front suspension is tuned and a quicker steering ratio. 7 speed instead of the 8 speed with the paddle shifters. It says it's lowered but my dad has a 24 lariat maverick and they look the same height to be honest. Lobo mode is pretty nifty you can feel the pull in the corners but you can only shift with the paddles and it has to be north of 4k on the power band

Come on Mervin don’t tease us like that. Let’s see a pic of the SCCA car. I just helped buy my daughter a 1985 Porsche 944 …damn thing is 45 years old and it is SOOO fun to drive. She learned how to drive a standard in one day.

I pretty much fall right in the targeted age demographic, the only difference is that I live in a pretty rural area. When the Maverick released though I was living in the suburbs of Portland and was eyeing a hybrid model. Where I live now though an AWD makes more sense because of our weather.

Same thing that befell the Ford SportTrac and Honda Element has fallen upon the Maverick.... Oh marketing wanted the 25 to 35 year old urban outdoorspersons.... They got us aging GenXers and Boomers instead...

70 year old youngster here; bought mine because of its name. Took my road test at 16 in a family friend's Maverick. It had no power steering or brakes and was as low tech as you could get back in the day.
