Say the OP had the extended service plan that they bought from Granger with that deal they offer, would that have covered this transmission replacement?

OP sorry to hear about your transmission.
I wonder if t
No idea on if it would be covered but that's not really my point. You can't pick the one time it would have paid off. Most people will lose money buying these things. On average, the house always wins.

Regarding the eCVT, it's so different in form and function I don't think you can really use this situation to say much about it. I might be wrong but I thought Ford licensed some of the technology for the eCVT from Toyota so I'd expect it to be pretty solid.

Kinda like all the other insurances we pay for over the years. I guarantee my wife and I are not on the positive side of insurance premiums paid vs claims paid back to us. After your financing is done, it’s up to you. Some people prefer to gamble, others don’t.

Hybrid Fords typically have a much longer warranty period. We had the transaxle replaced under warranty on our 2014 C-Max at 90,000 miles.
It would have also cost us over $7,000, we got lucky on that one.

Wow Heck of a deal. What dealer is that?
my dealer I bought mine from offered a 20yr/200k mile as well. Assuming you bought it brand new from the dealership*. I attached a screenshot of what is "covered" but I am crossing my fingers...if anything goes wrong... I feel my dealership is honest/good enough to do the right thing...vs... find loopholes and gray areas to then claim what is wrong isnt what is listed....type of deal.

Depends on the warranty cost. Just bought an aftermarket warranty for $1700 with 120,000 miles and 6 years. Local Ford dealer said they have no issues doing work with this warranty company over the past several years so hope it stays that way. Repair bills are too costly now to not have a warranty.
That doesn’t change anything about what I said. Insurance companies have the numbers figured out. They know they have a better chance of you not needing it. Or they would be out of business. Insurance is numbers and luck. Numbers are always in favor of the company luck although bad for you is also bad for them.

In the past year my truck was hit and totaled and my wife car also. I’m still on the wrong side of insurance. The premium I pay for all my cars or even what I paid on my truck covered the amount they gave me. They don’t build those building and employ all those people by now t betting correctly.

The difference is that there is a ceiling on your truck repair costs. I guess if those would break you financially you can buy extended warranties for peace of mind. With other types of insurance the sky is the limit on what you might have to pay so covering your ass there starts to make sense.

I have not purchased warranty on some vehicles but have on most. I normally keep vehicle for 10 years or 175,000 miles. I could justify 10 year 100k to 125k miles almost with AC repairs with other repairs basically free. Biggest win was 1991 Caprice. At 99,400 (with 100k policy) miles took to authorized service center and told manager to fix anything covered. Warranty covered about (almost $5k) 3.5x it's cost after a prior AC condenser repair. Cost me close to $400 for non covered items to wind up with 100% brake job (master, slaves, hoses + other items elsewhere). On Mavericks I am leaning on the fact that almost every part has several errors codes.
Edit to add: don't forget if your truck gets totaled or traded in (if traded or sold transfer warranty for more $$) etc to cancel warranty for unused time period!
Also if I remember correctly someone posted that there were almost 40 error codes for items on the ice COOLANT LOOP itself.

they can't do jack sheet about it.

when the OP first noticed issues after the flush was done, that would have been a very good time to have a 3rd party, whether a Ford dealership or not, inspect, diagnose and take pictures.
It's not a dealer issue, but a Ford issue, and should have reached out when the matter became known to them, via the *official* Ford presence, here. If I were the site owner, if the Ford presence never/rarely provided any meaningful assistance, then I'd block them, as it just frustrates the MPF community to have them interject with puffery, or worse, false hope. Or in this case, silence.

And maybe I didn’t make my point clear, it happens 🤪. The C-Max transaxle was just within the Factory Drivetrain warranty.
Over the years we have been hit and miss on buying extended warranties.
We have a 19 Escape with one but our 19 F-150 and the 22 Maverick do not.
The Escape has all the bells and whistles where the trucks are relatively plain.
Insurance companies don’t pay those high dollar athletes and actors chicken feed to advertise their products.

I can say one of the shops I used to work at stopped doing flushes on anything over 60K that had never been flushed before. Had a few have issues and it wasn't anything we did. So not worth the hassle as a shop to continue doing it.
Makes sense since you can't replace the filter: all a flush will do is reintroduce some of the particles the filter already trapped. That is the one engineering feature I think was a bonehead move on Ford's part.

You realize this thread is less than 24 hours old? For as much as some of you folks dismiss the Ford account as being useless you sure expect it to be Johnny on the spot to respond at the same time.

We (OK, I) assess the Ford presence as being superfluous based on past responses and results of--or lack thereof based reports from those who Ford reached out to.

Starting to hear of more cases of 8F35 transmission failures and most are at or less than 100k miles. My brother-in-laws neighbor has a '22 FX4 Maverick and his transmission failed at just over 100k miles. Curious if anyone else has had a failure or knows of someone that has? My '23 Maverick with 14k miles currently will buck and shutter when you first start driving it when it's cold (sitting overnight or long period of time). Has done so since about 7-8k miles. Clears up within a minute or less of driving and does perfect from that point on. Had the transmission fluid changed at 12k as a precaution but still does it. Never towed or hauled with mine. Hope it's not a sign of worse things to come? PLEASE FORD, TELL ME YOU MADE A GOOD TRANSMISSION!!

it's Ford Marketing Customer Service.

they cannot do anything about warranty claims. they can do less than nothing about a transmission over 60k miles that a dealership has already repaired/replaced.

between that and the lengthy extended warranty sidebar, this thread is a mess. 🤷‍♂️ :cwl:
