Nobody made a Maverick ass-end trailer yet? ... Last one I saw for salvage that was totally trashed in the front they still wanted ~$5k for so doesn't seem a particularly cheap proposition yet.

When my hybrid maverick had the driver's side rear fender mashed in with no damage to tailgate or interior of the bed and no damage to rear door, it cost $12,722.64. the rear plastic bumper cover had one of the attachment slots or ears broken and it cost $799.

Now if ford built there maverick with an 8 foot bed with the 4 door 5 occupants cab on the same 120.9 inch wheel base with a 220 total length we would have a REAL truck that we could get a cap 4

I would have been happy with a SuperCab and the bed a foot and a half longer.

With the evolution of pickups being smaller and smaller beds, this will be "normal" for all pickups in about 10-15 years. Just enough room for a cooler. Hardly any non-commercial pickup buyers use the bed, anyway. By "hardly any" I mean fewer than 10%, the inverse of that is more than 90%.

I think there will be some rebel company that makes a pickup able to hold a piece of plywood in the bed in 2040, and it will be all the rage.

Yeah, I'd be all over a Transit sized/shaped vehicle with a crewcab and 8' open bed, as long as it had the hybrid system and got over 25mpg. I get 15mpg in my T250 148. note: I can easily fit 10' boards with room to spare behind the front seats of my T250. There is plenty of room to make it into a crewcab and still have 8' bed. The slight cabover design is efficient.

With comfort as priority instead of almost none used bed space there's no surprise on the switch over the years, not to mention the double cab now days vs single cab on the past also is another factor in favor of the switch.

Also now days the pickups and suv's are becoming the yesterday family vehicle, so instead of a worker working in the community in the small single cab truck, now we have truck that can take you coast to coast with more comfort and amenities than you ever had before, not to mention the fuel efficiency now days make sense to get this kind of vehicles.

NO !
It’s DE-evolution, period.

All us capable old farts are soon extinct.
The younguns won’t even know what do do with a sheet of plywood.

Cabovers suck if you rear end a big SUV.
I hated the GMC 15 ton twin screw cabover.
The thing moved wrong but it was way cool scaring the crap out of your passenger. Heading straight at a building or vehicle and getting so very close before you spin the wheel. I was out of it in two months.

i particularly like the placement of the front door handle over the wheel well. the webartist needs to show the interior.
