This recently bothered me as well. I didn't read the entire thread but has anyone had resolution from Ford?
Nada, no acknowledgement.

* Please note: This topic is in "Bed and Roof Mods" and not in "Issues, Repairs, Warranty, TSB, Recalls"

As the title suggests, the cables are too long and the tailgate is not level with the bed. It is also not level with the wheel wells when in the half-up position.

People have pointed this out before reacting to pictures and I assumed it was optical illusion but my Sola don't lie.

I'll take a look at this when (ever) I pick up my Maverick. I can make some new ones at work or home if I buy the fittings. You can get custom ones made at McMaster-Carr, Fleet Farm, Grainger, etc.

Is there a chance this was done intentionally? Getting into a tailgate/sitting on a tailgate with a slight lean angle is easier. I noticed it on mine as well, but it was actually easier for me to load the dirtbike in the back with this slight adjustment. Just a thought
Yeah, there are times I would actually like it down a bit.

UPDATE... Went to my dealer today. No history of the tailgate issue per Ford. At my request, the Body Shop Mgr inspected and photographed the issue; he agrees this is a problem. He electronically notified Ford Engineering Dept of the issue and I have a copy of the report. In the event I have an issue in the future, I have documentation to support any repair claim that might be necessary. This dealer is the BEST.

Sorry for this, but bumping this thread. Can anybody confirm if the tailgate was like this on every 2022 Maverick? And can anyone confirm if this has been changed for the 2023 model?

Im going to say probably like that on all 2022s. I know mine is. Not sure if it's been fixed with the 2023s.

My dealer contacted Ford engineering department; they approved ordering replacement cables. Checked a 2023 on the lot; tailgate LEVEL. Hope the replacements resolve this issue.

Thanks, I've noticed this in pictures too. Does not seem right to me. I think they screwed up making all of the cables. I wish we had an official word from Ford about this.
Is this really that big of a concern?

There is no way to confirm every 2022 had this issue. I recall one post showing one side of the tailgate was different from the other and they had to relocate one of the cable anchors. That was a definite production quality issue and not just an improperly made cable. That too could have been an easy fix with an adjustable cable.

Sure is when you have something long and you need the tailgate to help support whatever you have.

No it's not a big issue. I've hauled 12 foot boards, hauled french doors, plywood, etc, etc.
