Would you take a pic with a 2x4, level, or whatever flat-ish object across the bed and tailgate and share if your 2023 model is indeed coplanar?

Uh oh. So, I eye balled it at the dealer and it looked fine. Per your request I did the 2x4 and level check. $@it. The front of the tailgate is coplaner with the bed dead on. The rear is about 1/4” low. Dang it. I’ll be looking to get slightly shorter cables. I also attached one pic of my 2000 Ranger tailgate….it’s 7/16 of an inch lower. Now I gotta fix em both. ugh. Lol.

I think a quarter inch is just fine and within spec. Plan to "fix" that (which needs no fixing) on your own time with your own dime.

If you keep looking for problems, you will keep finding problems. It's a safe bet the air pressure is different in all 4 of your tires.

OK went and checked my hybrid 23 XLT vin 19nnn delivered Feb 2023 drivers side is spot on cable is tight, passenger side cable is almost snug but I had anti theft factory hinge lock installed and hinge side of tailgate is ever so slightly high (see pics)

That’s great and that’s how it should be! I went thru quite a bit of BS to get proper cables for my ‘22 Mav.

The dealer ordered new cables; those were different lengths. The 2nd try worked; those cables were taken off a new 2024 they had at the dealership. The dealer is Akins Ford; can’t say enough about how good this dealership is.

My tail gate was low also, didnt bother me until I bought a motorcycle lift. My bike weighs approx. 650 lbs and lift set up is another 200. It uses the tailgate as part of its support. Mine was approx. 2 inches low. Went to 2 dealers, neither had heard of this. Dealer I bought truck from went to a couple of new ones and low and behold, cables were approx. 1/2" shorter. They took a set off a 24 and traded them for mine, now my tailgate is level.
