Tailgate Down Light?

Is there a sensor that shows the tailgate is down? I don't think there is and one time almost drove off with it still down. Now, I make sure. Would be good to have a light like a trunk open light on regular cars?

We almost did this the other day with a full load of pumpkins. I noticed the tailgate was down on the backup camera,otherwise they would have rolled out on the way home!

It isn't something I've ever thought about before, but I can see the benefits as long as it's:

A. Optional and can be disabled​

B. A one-time warning/tone, not a constant nag​

More functional than the "check the back seat" warning (that you can thankfully disable). But that's just my two cents.

Yeah that was me in paddle board gear. I didn’t have to reverse so buddies honked and reminded me. I have to dumb ass proof it by checking each time and thought, a simple sensor would be nice. If a car has a trunk lid sensor, a truck can have tailgate one. It’s kind of like purists who don’t want cup holders on a motorcycle and yet, it comes in handy

I would like a one time warning along with a sun roof open alert when shutting down. Can’t have everything.

I wish there is because I did drive one time with it open (forgot to close)and lost a plastic bucket I had left while driving.

The other day picking up 15 gallons of off road diesel fuel for my small Kubota I started pulling away and wondered if I had closed the tail gate. Easy enough to stop and put in R and check.

BTW, yes I had closed it.

Stop and put it in R seems to be the manual solution. My problem at middle age is the tailgate doesn’t even come into my brain function sometimes. . Just have to do my double checks the old school way.

I don't know if a setting to indicate the tailgate is down would cost that much for Ford. But I like the idea. I have always been one and I'll equate it to video games, in the video game there are certain things I like and other people don't and I say put it in the game and let people turn it on or turn it off if they like it or don't like it. Same thing here if the tailgate is down just have a beep or have a something on the dashboard tell you it's open and if you don't like it you disable it. I don't know

No there's not.

If you don't know, get out and look or use the backup camera as suggested earlier. If you don't have a cover on the bed you should be able to see it out the rear view mirror. Even with a bed cover I can still tell if it's up or not to be honest.
