Update- Just got the passenger side cable replaced- Now with both sides replaced with new parts counter units the tailgate cables are still of a different length- This is annoying-

Bummer. So the new cable is too long? I'll bet the parts bin is a hodgepodge of old too long cables and new correct length cables and you have no idea which you'll get if you order one

Either the new one from yesterday is too long or the new one from last month is too short - lol

They should put the old metal tail gate holders back on them like they used to use

I put chains on mother-in-law's 25 year old S-10 after the cables rusted out.
chains worked equally well for many more years and tucked inside, not like the above photo which would soon erode the paint.

I took delivery of my XLT LUX on 10/18 and tailgate is level and both cables are tight.

Just to clarify, tight cables is not the same as correct length cables (to make the gate level with the bed). Mine are also tight but the tailgate is a droopy boi.

Who knows. It doesn't matter if too long or too short. We just need Ford to be able to offer a set matched in length. Life is hard -
