Uneven tailgate cables

I did a quick search on the broader internet and here, but didn't find anything.
My tailgate cables are uneven. The left one has a tiny bit of slack, in either position.
I looked at some videos, and it seems like others are this way as well. Is this intentional?

How much slack are we talking? If you sit on the tailgate does it remove the slack at all?

I see what you mean. I bet when you put about 20 pounds on the tailgate they are both under load. But having said that, there is no reason you can't complain about it and ask the service department to take a look at it. Maybe they will order you a new cable (or two).

No truck I've ever owned had different length cables like that.

Measure the attachment points center to center. From your description that the left side has slack regardless of cable orientation, most likely the left side is slightly less distance between the attachment points.

I think the most likely problem is it's just the cable(s) cut to a little different length during the rush of production and poor quality control.

I think when he said it's like that in either position he means the lowered or partially raised positions.

Can you swap the cables one side to the other? See if the problem stays on the side or if it follows the cable, my guess is if it follows the cable one of them is a little shorter. I bet your service department will order a pair in for you if its the cable thats the problem.
