Does anyone know of a retractable step for the Maverick bed. I know its not that high, but I’m 73 and my balance is not what it used to be.
Tired of having to use a step ladder to get into the bed.

Thanks.
I don't own one. But this looks about the safest one out there.

Truck N' Buddy.

Full width: about $480
Small width: about $280

I read the recommendations in this forum about folding steps for the Maverick and was just about to order one, but then I saw an ad for a 2-step ladder on sale at Walmart for $11.88. I purchased it a couple weeks ago—not expecting much, but it has been fantastic. It’s the perfect height next to the Maverick’s bumper/tailgate, has a top rail to grab onto, and is very sturdy and has wide steps. I see now that it has gone back to its regular price, but even at that, it is a bargain. It’s light as a feather (6 lbs.), and can be stored in the back of the truck. I used a couple clips and attached it to my tailgate, so I can easily access it and take it out when needed. https://www.walmart.com/ip/COSCO-2-...1?classType=REGULAR&athbdg=L1100&from=/search

My Mav is in winter storage right now, but I am thinking of installing a marine telerscoping ladder on the inside of the tailgate. They are marine grade SS, and easy to install. Available from Amazon, marinas and marine gear stores.

I like the idea of the Boomer step. Except, that it blocks a third of the tailgate even when stowed.
I'm trying to figure out. Why are folks always climbing into the beds of their Mavericks for??
Here is a short video.
You can't use a a bed cover or a tonneau cover with this step.
at the 37 to 42nd second mark you can see it sticks up above the tailgate.

If you don't mind the first question I have for you is how often you get into the bed of your Maverick and for what reasons.
The subject has been covered before
There is no GM Style patented trademarked step bumper for the Maverick. You either have a ladder that attaches to the tailgate and is kind of in the way when stowed or you use a step ladder.
There are several more threads on this subject.

It may be a GM style but I had one on my last F-150 and they are available on F150/250 and Rangers.

As for how often I get into the bed the answer is whenever the bed is needed. If you are just putting groceries are small stuff in the bed you don’t need a truck. I traded a Rav4 because I needed a truck not a SUV. The back of a Rav4 can carry a lot of stuff. My question is why buy a truck if you aren’t going to use the bed?

Answer to your first comment the F-150 and the ranger both have different style bumpers than the Maverick. Designers did not think that being a compact pickup truck with low "Reach over sides" the majority of the buyers would not need a step bumper.
I had a small SUV before I sold it and bought the Maverick. I own an F-350 (profile pic) for large jobs like the horse trailers, toy hauler or the RV.
I wanted another small economical truck for going into town and small jobs. Yes I use the bed for chores around our properties and getting groceries.

We have one of these COSCO ones. My wife bought it to reach into Kitchen Cabinets (Short People.... Randy Newman song ear worm going off). I kind of snickered on getting it. Well dang thing comes in handy I use it more than my 4 - 6 - 8 ft step ladders. Light weight folds somewhat compact and has a handle to some degree to steady when climbing up. I might be getting one for my shorter better half to use in the Maverick.

Even at 62, not too far from 63, I'm able to just sort of step up onto the tailgate, holding one of the bed sides. Occasionally, I've also just sat on the tailgate, and turned to one side to stand up, using the bedside as a support. - Sitting on the tailgate is a lot easier for somebody who may be less mobile, or not have great balance.

Something that might help the OP: I bought a thick 4x6 rubber backed outdoor carpet from Home-Depot, the stuff they sell as a 'foot' cleaner for inside/outside doors, which makes the bed a lot easier on the knees. It was maybe $35 and cuts easily, making a poor man's bedrug. I used the trimmed pieces to fill in in front of the cubby areas, and the balance on the tailgate. - Looks and works surprisingly well. As a bonus, it helps keep items from sliding around the bed.

I'm 72 and just use this simple step stool. Seven bucks and works just fine. Just keep it in the back by the tailgate: one-step-folding-stool-black

Check out the Westin Truck-Pal Tailgate Ladder Step. It attaches to either side of your tailgate, and can be folded up for convenient storage and access. It's 44" L x 15" W x 1-7/8" D and will work on tailgates that sit 38" or less from the ground.
