I have a 2023 Hybrid Lariat and constantly get the “Remote features disabled to conserve power” and/or deep sleep. I’ve turned basically all the things off (Wi-Fi updates, location tracking) and it seems impossible to defeat. I have a theory it’s the 400w 120v inverter option that’s drawing down the battery.

Anywho, I’ve also heard that the batteries these things ship with are junk… so I’d like cross that off my list of culprits. Autozone says it’s an EFB battery and offers a “direct” replacement. But what about switching to an AGM? They seem to be better fit for a hybrid, but unsure if anyone has switched with any success?

No, the EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) is not for the hybrid. It is a somewhat stronger flooded battery used to support the auto stop/start system on the Ecoboost powered Mavericks. I think many hybrid owners (don't have mine yet) have switched to the Diehard brand replacement battery for the hybrid.

See again my post that MM Mav kindly posted above....

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/hybrid-12v-battery-replacement.28921/

Unless things have changed very recently, there are no T4 replacement options that have the needed vent provision and will fit in the Maverick's confined space w/o modification...

PS, my 2022 Maverick never experianced a Deep Sleep issue after I installed a Diehard battery.. Take that for what it's worth..

good luck...

I have a 2022 First Edition picked up on Oct 2022. It has been flawless. 2 days ago it went into deep sleep mode. I tried a long drive in sport mode with ac off and all accessories off. It still goes into sleep deep mode. Last night I searched the Maverick Truck Club postings and found this solution from FORD! I will take it to the dealer today.

There has been some mention posted on here about 12 volt( low voltage system) battery drain and " deep sleep" messages from Ford Pass in Mavericks, today Ford released on the Professional Technician System accessible by Ford technicians this special service message, this may be something to have your dealer check if you are experiencing the problem of no start or dead/low battery. It does not specify that the mega fuse is being " blown" or popped, from my experience as a technician with some of the other models I have seen this mega fuse actually develop a crack ( typically caused by road shock/vibration)which can intermittently allow the loss of electrical charge to the battery, I've had them where they test good with an ohm/continuity meter laying on a bench but then with a little pressure applied to each end will test open. Ford does listen and research complaints/concerns with their vehicles and typically will give us( technicians) a heads up once they find a repetitive cause. Here is the service message, hope it helps some of you!

May 4 2023 New SSM 51598 2020-2023 Escape/Corsair, 2022-2023 Maverick – FHEV/PHEV - 12V Battery Voltage Low Or Discharged With DTC U3003:62 Stored In The DC/DC
Some 2020-2023 Escape/Corsair equipped with 2.5L engine full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles equipped with 2.5L engine FHEV powertrain may exhibit a condition where the 12V battery voltage is low or discharged with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3003:62 stored in the direct current/direct current converter control module (DC/DC). The vehicle may also exhibit DTC U3003:16 and/or U3000:04 stored in the DC/DC module. This may be due to an open in the 300 amp mega fuse located in the high current battery junction box (BJB). To correct this condition, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-05>Pinpoint Test H1 to verify the 300amp mega fuse condition, replace the fuse upon confirmation it is open. Test and recharge the 12v battery.

I took it to dealer and they updated the software and it solved the problem!

As I read through this thread, and its often referred to 12V battery issue, I notice my 22 Hybrid is once again in deep sleep mode with remote features disabled. WTH? It's been parked for less than 24 hours. I have a bad read of 11.96 volts at the terminals. Either something is drawing it down or it's yet another battery starting to choke. I'm on my third one by the way for the same issue. No problem ever starting the vehicle but this is really getting on my nerves. So another trip to the dealership, probably a couple of hours of testing and I'll likely end up with battery number four. As frustrating as this is, there is no way I'm buying my own battery. I'll just keep playing musical batteries until I get a good one (if they exist), or until the warranty expires.

Unless you're no longer covered by a warranty, there's no reason to shell out $150-250 for a battery.

You paid for a warranty. Use it.

Some dealers wont replace it, claiming the battery does not prevent vehicle from starting so it’s meeting specification (or some similar bs). Hopefully that’s a rare case, because I need to have mine serviced for this issue as well.

Leave them a poor review on Google for B.S.ing you, then move on to another dealer. All functions of your vehicle should work within the warranty period.

I've had mine replaced after two visits.

Where are you located? I'd like your dealer to talk to my dealer.

Due to differences of opinion, site administrator has temporarily suspended my ability to make new posts, without defining the length of "temporary". I think I accidentally offended someone. Well I'm deeply sorry to anyone offended. I'll keep adding data here; when able.

Is it possible that people who live in areas with few hills are seeing this issue more? I live in an area where I can coast downhill frequently which is where charging happens and I have yet to see an issue. Granted I have a low amount of miles yet, under 500.

It just seems to me unless you are doing lots of stop and go or getting hills to coast down you might not get much time to charge that the HV battery and then short change the 12 volt charge. But that’s just a theory which much smarter people than me on this forum could likely debunk 🤪

I paid for my replacement battery in my linked post above. My time is worth more than the ~$200 the DieHard battery cost me, plus no oil, grease or scratches in or on the truck, no waiting, no delays, no excuses, I know it was installed correctly, and I removed the questionable Motorcraft batteries from my truck's failure equation.

No Deep Sleep on my 2022 Maverick since I installed the DieHard, so it fix MY truck's issue.
