I know I'm not going to be happy with the OEM tires on my Hybrid XLT when the snow flies.

My first instinct is some AT tires, but maybe snow tires would be better
If I go with snow tires, I'd need another set of wheels too.

any recommendations for reasonably quiet ATs with a snow rating?

I'll let others chime in on ATs they recommend, but I would suggest that you also consider an All Weather (not all season) tire like Michelin CrossClimate2 or Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady2. They're snow rated and will probably beat an AT in most conditions except off-road. If you want the off-road capability, than an AT will probably be better for you.

You're right, the OEM tires are made for milage and nice weather. I found a set of almost new wheels with OEM tires for $200 on Craigslist. I gave the tires away and mounted Blizzaks on them at Discount Tire. I'm very happy with the Blizzaks in the snow and Discount Tire changes them for me twice a year for free.

Michelin CrossClimate2's all the way. Can still hit 45-50MPG on my way to work and they're wet braking biased and hydroplaning resistant. I work emergency services so I rely on my tires to get me through any Northeastern storms that come. Got tired of swapping in true snows, these do just fine for anyone not living in the arctic circle.

On road snow, my Yokohama Geolandar G015’s were three peak rated. A wonderful tire.

It was a bit of a light winter here this year so can't speak to them in particularly heavy snow, but I switched to a set of GT Radial MaxClimate all-weather tires in January and they've done good so far. Fairly inexpensive and made in the US.

Been very happy with my Firestone Destination AT2s! I live in Michigan too and they've gotten me through two winters totally fine so far.

On my 2025 Hybrid AWD I swapped for some 235 Falken Wildpeak AT Trails and couldn’t be happier.
I have the same set up on my 23 Hybrid. Just rolled over 40k with them and have been very happy

Going for AT or all weather, vs dedicated snow tires will depend on how much snow and ice you deal with. If you get occasional snowfall an AT or all weather tire is fine. If snow and ice are an issue all winter long a dedicated snow tire is still a better choice. AT will perform worse over all, then all weather is good enough, then the snow tire would be best over all.

A lot of good recommendations by others. I would add that if you're looking to keep the current vehicle behavior, but add improved winter handling consider:

I went with NEXEN Winguard Winspike3 snows. Had a very snowy winter here this past year in Central MA. Most snow in 10 years. Also travel to northern ME snowmobiling without issues. Been on the truck 2 winters now and have been great.

We have been happy with the factory continentals in northern michigan. 44k on since new and still does a great job.
