Hey Spuds—- Do you think since it’s tied to the movement or flexing of suspension and body against the windshield/dash/head liner… this could be structural? As in… maybe a strut tower brace being put on, would that help at all?? Make it worse? Is it possible that there are missing spot welds or welding points (not sure of the name) that help to create structural strength/support? Again, I’m sorry I really need to get it to dealer to get the ball rolling… but I’m baffled by my new truck let alone all of us on here having this issue… This isn’t something to expect in any level of automobile…

I would like to remind everybody that the head of the Maverick Design Team has stated for the record that Ford cut three years off the development time to get the Hybrid to market. They cut out the Life Cycle Testing of the Truck that usually shakes out all these issues so the customer isn't required to do it for Ford.

A case in point, the Boeing 737 Max was rushed to market to beat the competition. One extra sensor and training for pilots would have saved hundreds of lives. They wanted to save money. When GREED is a part of the equation, everybody suffers.

Folks, take this to Ford as I will be doing. You paid for a warranty. Don't forget that.

Plus, it'll help them gather more data.

****ALSO Your description is spot on!!! the bouncing left to right!! its the most peculiar sound... like rubbing hard new warm plastic...but it also has a reverbing sound...?? If i get it to do it again, I will try to record it with audio/video... If it isn't dangerous or damaging... I may have to live with it... not a fan of letting someone take apart a new truck dash.... wind up with more noise than began with

Private test; ignore...

So I took mine to the dealer last Friday. And they have zero idea. Said they couldn’t hear it. I played them the video. Took it for a ride with the foreman. It was 45 degrees out and it only did it twice. They basically said ya we don’t know. This morning 30 degrees it did it like crazy. Leaving work it was 55 no noise. It’s gotta be from the structure around the windshield. I’d love to test a strut tower brace for shits.

Wow! This is scary… but I agree with you! Would love for shits n giggles to throw strut tower brace on it… but Ford should be made aware and deal with this… I’m now not holding out much hope! Keep me posted… trying to get mine in… scheduling is hard for me

I expect rattles at this price point. This is after all a disposable cheap daily driver with some practicality. Doubtful I’ll even wash it. Why? I haven’t washed my fusion s once since I bought it.
You may classify a $34,000 truck is a cheap piece of junk daily driver and never wash it . Not sure the rest of the group feel the same as tou

Dropped mine off at the dealership today. Hope to hear more this afternoon.

If your dealer isn't sure on next steps, ask them what they can do to submit the issue to Ford.

Yeah seems that way! Thankfully… due to the awesomeness of this forum. I found other folks with this issue and it appears they (ford) has an issue with water getting into wiring harness and loose connections. Basically they replace the harness, weather proof, and tighten connections? Going to have a laundry list trip to the dealer yay! Thanks for the response! I pray they figure it out for you and by a miracle you can tell us so we can just get it fixed!!

At about the 250 mile mark my Maverick developed a rattle in the dash plastic. It starts at above 35mph and is constant. I can't for the life of me pin point the exact area in the dash its coming from. Pushing on different areas of the dash does nothing to stop it. Anyone else have this problem? Is this something the warranty would cover? I pretty much just have to keep the radio volume turned up all the time so I can't hear it.
I had the same problem with my 16 tacoma... drove me nuts for 6 years

Right?? I paid $30k and it's my daily. Some of us peasants can't treat this like a "throw away vehicle". Some people are so out of touch.

Hey folks, some possibly good news.

Picked up my Mav today and my dealer mentioned the issue could be the hanger/connector that joins the dash with the firewall. It may be misshapen. Ford is aware of this and has posted an internal bulletin for dealerships according to the service manager I talked to.

Next steps are for me to take it back on Monday, where they will take apart the dash as asked by Ford to investigate. They will put me in a loaner.

Next steps for YOU:
If you have the same issue, visit your dealership, tell them others are having the same issue, and have them diagnose.

The more signals Ford gets that there's an issue, the quicker it will be fixed for other folks!
