Latest news I've seen is that he might decide tonight. At which point a bunch of news outlets updated their "Trump tariffs" articles with that information, but leaving existing headlines and summaries in place.

I'm keeping an eye on the news, but nothing official yet.
I made a few hundred dollars on the stock options today. I watched $2 dollars go to $90 in 1 minute end of day expiration. Blows my mind. Wish I wasn’t out at that time I witnessed it

was gone as quick as it happened though. Some real lucky lotto plays.

If he does go through, guess we will see which side eats the tariff cost, ford or customer

It will be the customer.

It's always the customer. The question is going to be how much more price increase are customers of the Maverick going to taolerate before sales start dropping?

Going to depend on a lot of factors. Bad dealers will probably try to tack it on whether the car entered the country before the tariffs were applied or not (some of them are doing "market adjustment" markups anyway). I don't know if Ford will offer support to the dealers, might depend on the amount involved. We'll have to see how things shake out if it happens.

The Santa Cruz is literally a modification of the Tucson. The powertrains almost HAVE to be compatible. I don't think Hyundai expected the hybrid Maverick to be popular any more than Ford did, but they've had a lot of time to pivot.
right, and this was released at the same time as the maverick was. so both companies were planning on them for a while. guessing everyone else was taking a 'wait and see' approach to see if the cruz and mav sold out or bombed out. now that they are selling well maybe we'll see some competition, but it still will be a few years out. but then again with the way the world is going right now maybe it's not worth their efforts. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ford was rather surprised when they found that while many bought the pure base XL at 21K, many other were more than happy to lump on the options and upgrades and pay high 20s/30s$. The answer is more dependent upon if you're an XL buyer or a premium buyer - XLers might tolerate another 1000 or so, those who are already good with spending 30-40K - eh a few hundred/thousand increase is no big deal

Ford seems to give XLs lowest priority for production, though.

I think most people bought XLT and Lariat (and Tremor now). XL being the base trim is probably the fleet special.

Not trying to be a negative Nelson but does anyone think that Ford is dangerously close to pricing the Maverick out of the market? I mean, at this point, for a few thousand more one could get a 4x4 Ranger. Personally I like my Maverick and wouldn’t change my choice but it seems like Ford is competing with themselves
Many think similarly, but there seems to always be someone willing to pay.

Or take the bank loan with blinders on.

they make them the least $ but they do still make them. If it wasn't for the overwhelming majority jumping in and paying for upgrades Ford might have held back some of the price increases but now that they know there are plenty who are willing to pony up big dollars for an upgraded version they just jack the prices up whenever they want.

Do an apples to apples comparison, the Ranger is $10K more.

This is the biggest thing I want to know is if tarrifs get added to these trucks, is it those that havent entered the country yet? Or any that hasn't been sold? The lariat that I ordered is sitting in the railyard 15 minutes from me and probably won't be delivered for another week. There's a XLT that I could buy today with the Lux Package and co pilot. I'd rather have the Larait, but if tarrifs get involved then i'm fine with the XLT
