For us Hybrid owners, it'd be great if you report back what they discover or not. Certainly understand not trusting it when it has run amuck on multiple occasions.
Unfortunately I probably won't own it long enough to find out. Since the dealership can't replicate it, and I can't in good conscience put myself/kids/other drivers at risk, I'm likely just going to trade it in and bite the bullet on something else. Too bad there's nothing else in the market to compete with the mav hybrid.

If you can forgo the pickup bed & 4K towing - the RAV4 Hybrid competes at an XLT price. Excellent family SUV? Interior very nice compared to Maverick. Proven drivetrain?

For all this "is completely normal", "it's not going to change" etc., imagine this "the ICE went full throttle and tried to accelerate accordingly" happening with an inexperienced teen son/daughter driver, an elderly driver whose reaction time is naturally longer due to age or just any driver that is not familiar with this "modern vehicle" characteristic, IMO I'll call BS, it a F'ing disaster of a "normal" modern vehicle function, I'd call it a software design FLAW by the manufacturer or the hybrid technology itself if this in fact "normal" in all hybrid brands. Just my 2 cents on the matter.
While it's impossible to know if the engine speed at idle is normal without hearing it. If has a significant ( more than other vehicles) pull when put in gear, it's definitely NOT normal

This is never going to be changed, Ford considers it fixed. There are a ton of threads on this subject.
Ford will fix it at some point. That point will be fatalities or serious injuries in very bad accidents. Lawsuits have a way of getting things done. Unfortunately, lives will have to be lost first. Sorry, but that is how it normally happens.

The 100% rev upon cold start happened to me twice on my 2025 Hybrid a week after I bought it in January. The 2nd time it happened a CEL was triggered. I took it to the dealer and they said it was a fluke. Ok, I guess, it hasn't happened again. The 2nd time it happened I pressed the brake pedal and shifted it from P to N, it immediately slowed down. So, unless it happens to you while it is in D I don't think it's too big of an issue but I think that Ford should correct this.
You are smart! The shift to neutral is the thing to do. I worry about my wife and a couple grandkids who drive. They may panic and freeze up. Ford is begging to get sued and if the accident is horrible enough, they will. But those lawsuits can take years and all the money on the planet won't bring back loved ones. I have had no issues with mine, but if I do, it's off to the dealership. If they tell me there is no fix, truck gets sold that day. I like to gamble on occasion, but gambling like this can kill you quick!

Between my mountain biking and my kids both playing hockey, the bed is basically non-negotiable for me. I used to have an escape and on days where my kids both had games/practice, it was basically impossible to fit them and their gear in the car. I'll probably just end up with an EB maverick or something.

I'll be checking out cx-5, rav-4, forester hybrid
Does it happen after the initial warm up cycle?
If no, just toss it in N when the issue happens.
no. It's done it in drive and park so far, but only on cold start. I'll be going to dealership today to try replicating it, while likely trading it in for something else.

Has anyone been killed or injured yet?
I didn’t think so.

Trade it in on a 2026.

"Bed is non-negotiable to me......"

"I'll be checking out 3 vehicles that don't have a bed"

Understand it sorta sucks to have to trade so soon, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do for the confidence and safety of yourself, family and others. A small hit to the wallet is nothing compared to the Un-confidence of the vehicle and certainly nothing compared to a life. High highly recommend the EB, I have a MY22, had Zero issues, not even a squeak or rattle. Really like the little truck. Ford's have always been my 1st choice in vehicle purchases for a loooooooong time, but I've had a few other brands over the years. So in a way I love Fords but I'm not a Fanboy like some website forums where "all this is normal" in modern vehicles talk. IMO what you described in your initial post is not normal in my sense of the term "normal" it is frick'in dangerous.

What was described is dangerous, but what is likely occurring is far less grave and life threatening.
