I had a strange occurrence a few days ago in my 2024 hybrid XL. Truck has 1250 miles on it. I was parked in front of my garage. My driveway slopes down and has a turnaround. I was backing into the turnaround so i could drive down the driveway. I think i may have put it in Neutral instead of reverse when i was backing into the turnaround. When i stopped in the turnaround, i noticed the engine racing, probably at least 3500-4000 RPM. I looked at the shifter knob and it was in neutral. I shut the truck down, waited a minute then restarted. All seemed normal after that. It has not reoccurred. Anyone experience this? It has been fine ever since.

Probably just a computer glitch. I wouldn't worry unless it happens again.

Try to get in a habit of using the instrument cluster P R N D L display. No need to look down to see where the shifter is set.

Since the motor is used for reverse, could your battery have been depleted by that point, and now the engine needed to run to recharge? Even though you hadn't gotten into reverse yet? Or maybe you did but came out of it.
I've stayed in electric all the way up to a slight uphill to light but ran the battery to the bottom of the blue box desired level (what 20%?), and the engine kicked on for a bit of recharge while waiting.

Hi Dave! I can look into your Maverick's concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Maverick's VIN?

How about my truck? Any insight on the engines experiencing runaway acceleration complaints?

They actually left more than a year ago, as a semi-active participant in doing only what you see them doing in that post.

Sometimes there was a positive result, usually not.
Really depended on what the issue was.

But there was never any sharing of info that I recalled.
Only dealer assistance.
