I got screwed out of mine for 2022 and I’m not taking any chances. $7,500 markup the day before it was supposed to arrive. All my signed paperwork didn’t mean jack squat. Got the courts involved and everything. The demand isn’t going anywhere for these. If the dealerships were willing to do that shit to me early on, just imagine what they are going to do now that they know Mavericks are the new OxyContin.

OK, you caught me. I ordered my first MY22 Hybrid Maverick over 13 months ago. Now that unit is supposed to have been built and shipped - on a railroad system that is disrupted by a near (or future) general strike. The soonest it can get to the dealer is October. I hope it doesn't fall off the train or truck, or something.

Then Ford opens up the MY23 Hybrid order book for an entire week! So I ordered one for my wife today.

I really don't feel like I am abusing the "system". We have two twenty year old plus trucks that we need to replace. I don't think they will last until MY24. But if I have to wait another 14 months for the order we placed today, it will be MY24.

Name and shame this dealer, honestly. Gotta spread the word about these shitty dealerships that we can all avoid them like the plague.

I can see people ordering with that strategy. But for those taking that approach, if you're only getting one, and it gets scheduled or built, please don't screw everyone else with legit retail orders by not cancelling the rest of the extra orders. I think a better system would be for all dealers to require a deposit to eliminate those not serious about purchasing or those trying to game the system. If someone is not willing to drop a deposit, then they either (A) aren't really that serious in purchasing or (B) are trying to place multiple orders to better their odds. I dropped a deposit because I am serious about buying this vehicle when it comes in. That is unless it doesn't get built due to the probably 20K duplicate orders that were made.
It doesn’t matter if they cancel or not. The truck gets built and becomes dealer stock. It takes away from retail quantities

And hence takes a build spot, screwing other customers out of their retail orders. How many duplicate orders do you think were placed? 10k? 20k?

I'm thinking 5k or so. Big enough to be an impact but not rampant. But just a wild guess.

So, how many orders (percentage wise) do people guess are multiples for flipping or to see what comes in first? I keep seeing it post, and find it aggregating to be honest. While I know it's allowed so fair game, it seems to be part of the problem in why we are having issues getting these things delivered. So how much in the big picture do you guys think this is?
That's exactly why Ford requires a copy of your current drivers license. It must match your current address. If you want more than 1 Maverick it's like an FBI investigation (Ford is on to dealers shenanigans and they are working hard to eliminate the crap) Dealers are now subject to factory allocation restrictions if caught)

Apparently not. While they want the DL, plenty of people on this board (shoot this thread) saying they have ordered multiples.

That’s why I think the duplicate orders are well over 5k and maybe pushing 10k or more. With such a small sample size on just this forum, I’ve seen posts from many ordering 3 or more.

They only require driver's license so only that a real person can buy it. Or else dealers would make up fake names and try to get more allocations. But nothing to prevent you from putting in 10 orders. Their system does not track and count how many orders are tied to your drivers license number.

I’ve got orders 8807, 8808, and 8809. They are all silver, hybrid, XLTs with a hitch. I most likely will only drive them from the dealership to my shop… where my maintenance guys will then use them. My dealer just had a bunch of white XLs that were ordered when I went in on opening day. Seems like business owners were the only ones ordering when the order bank opened. Hopefully these little trucks save some fuel while they’re running from rental property to rental property!

since you cannot trust the dealers to honor their agreements, or even to enter orders correctly why wouldn’t you have multiple orders. Heck you can’t even trust Ford to build your truck.

It might even make sense to order a couple more, even if you’re already driving one, in case yours get crashed or stolen, so you get a jump on a replacement unit.
