I've seen several people, who only intend to purchase one vehicle, mention that they've placed multiple Maverick orders. Sometimes, it's to avoid getting screwed over by a dealer at the last second or to angle for a quicker turnaround on their order, among many others. I'm curious to see how many people have done this and discuss whether it's victimless move as most contend (worst case scenario, the dealer adds one to their allotment) or a dick move, since it could still be argued as deceitful and maybe there's something I'm missing.
Personally, I placed an order for a hybrid and while I was a bit skeptical about choosing that powertrain over the Ecoboost given my driving habits, I figured I'd have the opportunity to test drive one looooong before I'd ever have a shot at having my ordered vehicle show up. Given what we're hearing about hybrid delays, I envision a scenario where, by the time I get a chance to drive a hybrid and realize it's not for me, it'll be late enough in the game that starting from scratch wouldn't make sense and I'd just say screw it and wait for the 2023s to come around. So, I gotta say that putting in a second order for an EB, to give myself an escape hatch here in a couple months, is sure starting to sound intriguing. Especially since the more I think about it, the less appealing the hybrid seems.
What say you all though? Are you playing the multiple order game or do you abhor such a practice?
