I am on my third order and haven't got one yet. I do have an awd, fx4 xlt (my second order) scheduled for the Sept 26 build.

My second order, a fwd, xlt (actually first order) never got a Vin number. It was a dealer stock order, not mine, so i dont get the rollover option or financial offer. I am a little miffed about that, but in the end it didnt matter.

I am trying to order a third, a tremor xlt. And it didn't qualify for the ford financial offer anyway. Who knows how long it will take to get it.

I used to sell high end electric guitars back in the 1980s and 90s. The company I was a dealer for had a six month back order list. If I wanted stock, I had to order early and extra.

I
Do not know how much BS was involved but I read somewhere that 1966 tremor EB's & another 1966 Hybrids were all that were to be built with allocations to be issued with one to each dealer retail order then allocations through the dealers for #2 ordered until all production is filled. Who knows but they be all ordered rather quickly, I expect.

I ordered two in October. I ordered a local one and then one at Chapman in PA for 3% under invoice. I was hoping they would both be rolled over and I was just going to take the local one and not bother with the PA one. The local one ended up scheduling for October 10. If my 23 MY PA order gets scheduled before the local one shows up, Im just going to let the dealer take it. If it doesn't, then I'll probably drive it until the PA one shows up and then sell it. The flip market has really talked recently but if Ford actually does cut off 23s early next week, then resale value may go back up again. I'd like to just break even when I trade in my 22 and I'd be happy.

I agree it's not wrong by policy or law. Doesn't make it right.
Why? Trying to understand the difference between this and someone driving to an orchard buying a bunch of apples and then selling them in town. Its business. Not trying to argue, I would really like to understand why buying a truck and reselling it is wrong?

People do this every single day with used vehicles. There are auctions all the time where you can buy a car, clean it up and then resell it.

To me it's not about the flipping. It's the taking a vehicle away from a person who has an order in at MSRP so you can flip one. Not illegal, not even wrong really in my opinion. If I met someone doing it in person, I'd shake their hand, offer a beer, and have a little debate.

But I don't like it, and it doesn't feel like the right thing to do when so many people with orders in are trying to get their hands on even one. Free country people are welcome to disagree.

Yeah, sort of like hoarding I guess. If you buy up all the toilet paper and stash it then it creates a shortage for others?

Mavericks are in short supply so flipping is inevitable. If the demand wasn't there then there would not be any profit in it.

Ordering 2 or 3 because you are going to actually buy them... Great! I wish I could too! Ordering more than what you want and then buying and flipping... that's America... Cool, I guess. Ordering multiples at different dealerships... like you're buying extra lottery numbers... Sucks, but OK. Not cancelling any of these extra orders you may have placed, once you get one scheduled... And letting them get built and go to the dealers... Taking build slots for other actual retail order customers... D1¢k Move!!!

I ordered two and will be flipping one to vroom or Carvana. I got one hybrid and one EB, I’ll keep which one I like more. May end up keeping both, we shall see.
What makes you think Carvana or Vroom are gonna even pay you what you paid for the vehicle you're selling? If anything the used market seems to be getting softer as we speak.

What Carvana/Vroom offers buyers and what they to sell for is probably a huge difference.

We recently sold a Ford Edge to Carmax @ 32k, they had it on the site for 35k for a full week before dropping it to 31k, in which it then lasted just days. Seems so bizarre to me that they offered us more than we originally paid, then sold it for 1k less than they had just cut us a check for. I have no idea of their business model, but I think their offers and for sale prices are 100% set by robots, not actual human beings. I seriously don't see CarMax, Carvana, Vroom and the likes being around all that long. Wasn't it Carvana that lost its ability to sell in Illinois recently?

I watched as my single 2022 order was passed over for orders at a larger dealer and those who ordered multiple Mavericks, so this time, I'm not making the same mistake.

It's basically the prisoner's delema. If everyone only orders one, then everyone's order will probably get built, but only if everyone plays by the rules. If someone takes advantage of ordering from multiple dealers, then everyone who doesn't loses. And less people get their Mavericks built than if everyone only orders one.

This is why this ordering model is flawed. The dealerships also have an interest in taking as many orders as they can, knowing that may drive allocations in the future.

I’m all about free market but I feel like this does hurt the persons ordering in smaller markets, that get drown out by the sea of orders from mega dealerships, taking orders, just to take orders.

At this point a straight RNG lottery would just be less hassle and at least fair. That's what some retailers have been doing for constrained items like Playstation 5s or high-end graphics cards when selling them at MSRP.
