Not a fan of dial shifters. I’d be more so if they created one that requires a slight push down to actually shift. I think it’s just too easy to shift - which may have been the goal but I *personally* don’t think it’s very safe. Other may disagree.

I wish there was some sort of lock on it. My dog occasionally puts her paw on it and knocks it out of drive.

The dial is a problem for me, too. Now I just look at the bottom of the screen behind the steering wheel which shows the gear you're in.

My issue is the Maverick doesn't keep the last setting when powered OFF and ON. It's getting old resetting ECO, This Trip Display and the 13" Display ever time the truck is started.

So when you looked at the Maverick, knowing your dog would put it's paws on the console, you didn't think about that? I had a dog that would not stop barking unless he could put his front paws on the console and look out the windshield. The other dog laid down on the floor and didn't move until the engine was turned off. When I went shopping for a F-150 in 2014 I knew it had to have bucket seats and a console for the dog.

No, I didn’t thinks about that happening when I was shopping for a new truck. The dog usually drives a stick shift

I would be okay if they eliminated the shift knob all together and put it on the touch screen this would free up some valuable space

I've gotten used to the dial shifter and don't even look at it anymore. Muscle memory has mostly taken over, and of course there's the display on the instrument panel.

I agree I got used to it after 2 Mavericks don't mean I have to like it it should have a proper shifter.

There's a gear indicator display on the gauge cluster right in front of the steering wheel column.

Ditto. Same with turning off the parking brake and start/stop.

Try looking between the Speedometer and Tachometer.

I think it would have made a huge difference if the dial had hard stops on each end so you could "feel" where you were in the pattern.

At first, this was an annoying absence, but after a while I got use to it.

Now that's a problem. Probably something the designers didn't figure on happening. A press in lock button on the side would be an easy solution

Mine will ask if you want to use the last used mode before switching back to normal.

my only issue with the knob is that i always used to rest my right hand on the stick (then later the automatics gear shifter) i have a Party Stack Pringles bottle wedged in the cup holder...and it makes me feel better. the regular size Pringles can was just too short.
