  3. Trailering 1,000 miles advice needed.

The first hundred miles in Michigan is quite hilly. I'm going to consider trailer mode then. The rest is relatively flat so perhaps trailer mode may not be necessary. Thanks for your reply.
  4. Trailering 1,000 miles advice needed.

Your response brought many thoughts to mind. I lived in the Chicago area for over 60 years. Now, I live in N. Michigan where most of the drivers are super courteous. Hardly at all in N. Illinois! Trailering means leaving more room in front of me for braking. Unfortunately this leaves more...

    Thanks. Something more to calculate.

The loft was from an old garden shed left in pieces after a huge wind storm with a sign on it saying FREE!!! I took it home and internally reinforced all the parts with wood. I have taken it on the highway with no problems (so far!) Thanks for your reply. Mike

Hey All, I'll be pulling our 4-H's traveling pigeon loft from Northern Michigan to a Western suburb in Chicago. There is an AU (American Racing Pigeon Union) national convention there. The loft and trailer weigh 1040 lbs. (Commercial scale). I do not plan on any passengers or extra weight...
  8. U-haul 6x12 trailer, what ball hitch and drop do I need?

I was always taught that whatever you're towing, the trailer should ride as level as possible, and the load should be slightly forward on the ball. The 60/40 rule says 60 percent of the towed weight should be in front of the trailer axle. This will help with eliminating trailer or truck sway...

No wonder the traffic light cables are sagging with the weight of that giant grasshopper. ⁉ :)o_O🦗
  10. How Many Have Shells on their Trucks?

Leer has a Labor day promo on now for $200 off their camper shells. I purchased one for my truck for $2,758.49 OTD during one of their sales promotion. This included the up charge for the Azure Gray color. To view this email as a web page, go here. We've Got You Covered...

Thanks for the link and with this more information.
  12. Krown rustproofing

I had Krown do my 2023 Escape and so far, no problems. They recently did my 2025 Maverick ,and so far no problems. The "other" side of their building is their maintenance shop. I use and trust their work. (and the owner is a neighbor of mine!!!) Next time I go in I will ask him about this...
  13. Button function

If you have a sunroof, be careful of the ejector seat. If you don't, be doubly careful:angel:
  14. New 2025 FWD Hybrid MPG Question

I have a newer hybrid Lariat all wheel drive. The driving is up and down hills and mostly 55mph. The A/C is always on. The first 300-500 miles I was disappointed. During this time I was getting about the same as you are now, and I'm a very conservative driver. But now, after 700 miles, I'm...
  15. Maverick tailgate lettering

Very easy. Just make sure the area is clean. I thought I wanted raised chrome lettering, but black raised lettering would have been a better choice. Each of the chrome letters has multi-faceted surfaces and depending on the light and view area, they all won't view equally.
