Higher cost ($27K to $40k), low MPG (20), poor reviews (but seem to be getting better), good towing, almost too big for my garage. Not for me; but go for it, if it floats your boat. LOL
We are doing MSRP at this time. We may do better but we will not go below invoice price.
You know, since it’ll be based on the Bronco platform, the manual transmission is a possibility! With 5 speed manual.
Not likely. I'm expecting just same existing combination of 2.3L + 10 spd automatic as only choice for N/A through 2029 when product roadmap has cryptic reference to undefined EV.You know, since it’ll be based on the Bronco platform, the manual transmission is a possibility!
How would a hybrid work with a manual? With 5 speed manual.
2023 Mav XL Supercrew $22595First off, the current Ranger XLT Supercrew is about $5k more than the Maverick XLT Supercrew apples to apples. Not $13k.
There may be a hybrid.
New generation truck, so current reviews are not super relevant.
It's an option for at least a few people.
I doubt the Mav will get 7k towing. The Explorer with the V6 tops out at 5,600 lbs. Maybe the 4k bumps to 5k, but that's about it.The Maverick doesn't need a ladder frame and 7k is not out of the question. It's only 3k more than current. The Maverick already has the HP and torque to do it. Upgrade to a beefier version of the same transmission (which already exists) and add a little more cooling and it could do it just fine. The Jeep Cherokee can do it with a unibody just fine. In the 1990s people would have said an F150 will never be able to tow 14k either.
Explorers are no longer based on the Ranger, they are unibody now. This allowed them to compete with Pilots & Highlanders; the previous body-on-frame Explorers were hopelessly outclassed.I doubt the Mav will get 7k towing. Isn't this exactly the opposite of reality? When I was with Lincoln through 2019 the Explorer was unibody front drive platform. The new Explorer is back to body on frame and rear drive platform.Explorers are no longer based on the Ranger, they are unibody now. Pretty sure it's unibody rear driveIsn't this exactly the opposite of reality? When I was with Lincoln through 2019 the Explorer was unibody front drive platform. The new Explorer is back to body on frame and rear drive platform.
That is not a thing. Rear drive is always body on frame.Pretty sure it's unibody rear drive

I am sure you are right. But I am struggling to remember what. I think Ford had an old car that was based on a Euro version that was rear drive and maybe unibody. But I can't think of many others. But I had to check myself on the Explorer. The new one is RWD but DID retain unibody construction. It is not body on frame.I'm pretty sure a few rear drive vehicles are unibody. At least a couple.
