I wonder if a fleet purchase might accelerate production? I'm looking to order a MY23 and I did not try a fleet purchase for the MY22 that I just received.

i get what you mean but everything on short supply. Did you know Hershey is on short supply now? When its world problem its little bit more understandable..
Honestly it has nothing to do with any other company / industry.
Ford SOLD something it couldn’t deliver. That is the point.

Your example
Hershey is not estimating the delivery of their product to customers that have paid a deposit.

Ok fair enough they shouldn’t had offered it in the first place . Hopefully they have learned but I wouldn’t trust them and order lux if I wanted another maverick though . That’s for sure .

My business is also affected. However I know within a estimated date range when I can deliver product to my customers. Hiding behind “supply chain issues” is the “go to” for poorly run companies
Or poorly ran suppliers. That’s an issue I get frequently. Suppliers give delivery dates, product shows up two weeks later with no communication or updates.
Unfortunately that’s an issue that can start at the bottom and make everyone look bad on up the line.

So, I'm curious, when the MY23 order bank opens next month, what percentage of dealers do you think will be honest about the estimated wait time for your shiny new Maverick?

"I'll be happy to place a custom order for you, but I doubt you'll see the truck for a year. Maybe 8 months if you hit the scheduling lottery. Maybe 15 months if you have constraints."

Yeah, that sounds like a great way to drum up business. People are just going to walk away and go to the competition if they are told that, right?

So, what's a dealer to do?
C’mon man! Blow smoke up your skirt as always is his only play 😉

Heck I quote multi million dollar test systems based on delivery times quoted by very reputable vendors. Contract won within two weeks and when the actual orders are placed with them after a couple of weeks they say oops part problem delivery will slip for 3 months. Outside of our delivery window to our customers. It happens to every industry. Going through it right now. The worst thing is we get dinged with late delivery of our products from our buyers.. Supply chain sucks and we end up in an unfavorable status because we believed our vendors to honor their quoted delivery schedule. Again these are top line vendors with well known reputations in my industry. It sucks and hopefully my Maverick will enter build stage next week after being rescheduled 5 times already. I hate it, you hate it, we all hate it but it’s certainly a tiresome reality!!

Not the dealers job to figure out what Ford can and can't do. I'd rather Ford be more transparent about some of their decisions with production and scheduling. Building out 22 models sans any luxury packages, but offering those same packages for 23 orders starting next month? Stick with my current Lariat Lux and hope I don't get rolled to 24 or settle for something less and hope it gets produced as a 23? And, all is still prone to allocations, proper dealer order submission through COVP/ROVP, and whatever "prioritization" they will have for rolled orders. Ford wears this mess, not dealers. Doesn't seem they learned much from the Bronco fiasco.

I’m not defending dealers but I honestly don’t think most of them will know. When I ordered mine in October, even Tim was confident every MY22 would be built by April.
The dealer can tell their customers the current average wait time is a year. Depending on the status of the global supply chain and Fords production capacity the wait time could be longer or shorter.

When I ordered from my local dealer in October I was told 4-6 months for my hybrid. I ordered a second one from Chapman a few days later and they told me that because of their backlog to realistically expect to wait a year. I figured they were being over-conservative but apparently it wasn't conservative enough...

You may have paid a deposit to the dealer. No one has paid a deposit to Ford to order a vehicle.

Dealers are dependent on info from Ford. The situation and parts supply is fluid, so the timeline changes. If just one necessary component from a supplier is significantly delayed, that may mean thousands of scheduled builds need to be pushed back.

So, what's a dealer to do?
Not many.
I just checked w Ford's CS chat feature. Hoping my order was fulfilled (hybrid, obvi).
It is not.
I don't have a car.
I have been waiting this whole time. Without a fn' car.
When I ordered, I had a car. The salesperson told me (in Sept '21) that it would be a month. OK, fast forward a month, I sold my car. Because, why not, I'm getting a new one.

And this BS saying, 'if you take this or that off of your oder".
No.
If Ford did not have the parts available, they should not have offered them. WTH. And most of what I ordered (co-pilot) is standard equipment on other cars, even under 20k.

I mean, whatinthesuperfk???

If they can't fulfill 22s, then there shouldn't be this nonsense of 'when the oder banks will open up to order a '23'...They should NOT open up. If the vehicles and parts are not available for purchase, stop selling them. Is this complicated?

I can sell you the Mona Lisa painting. You know, I don't have it. But whatever.
That does not stop Ford from selling things. Who wants to buy my painting?

SO MAD! I feel lied to. I feel cheated. I feel like a sucker.

I am aware it's not personal and there are many forces at play here. I'm sure Ford would love to fulfill their orders. But, being upfront, honest, and only selling what you CAN deliver is the most basic premise of an actual business and decent conduct.

@Ford Motor Company = blech

So buy something else? If the Maverick is not obtainable, buy something that is.

Talked to my dealer on 8/2. He told me he has my "order" ready to input whenever the order bank opens. He again warned me that delivery date was unknown and could be 9 months to a year. I don't know how much more honest you can get and I appreciated his trying to keep things realistic.
