I'd very much appreciate an education on what I'm doing wrong and what the dealer is doing wrong.

Don't know your specifics. If you and the dealer placed your order correctly you should be getting regular communications from Ford.

If you ordered a hybrid last fall surely you knew your chance of getting one was maybe 50%. Since last fall Ford announced that allocations to dealers would be a factor (and again this year) so you might want to talk to your dealer about that. No guarantee they will share that info with you but you can ask.

It may be opaque to you but it should not be to the dealers. The allocation system is between Ford and the dealers not to the eventual buyer.
And yet it negatively affects the ultimate buyers/customers. Are you a Ford Dealer or something? Every "Defense" you offer for Ford has more holes than a Spaghetti Sieve. Ford's handling of the Maverick ordering and delivery has been sub-optimal for so many customers, it's laughable. See the comments where someone suggested it be made into a Case Study for study of what not to do when teaching students in Business Schools.

Again, if you spend any amount of time in this forum (not just this thread, but many of the threads) you will see the recurring theme of just how bad Ford is doing out there, your situation excepted.

It's now going on eleven months since i ordered my Maverick Lariat through a small dealer in Kentucky. My reason for choosing this dealer is that this dealer has won numerous President's Award and they only sell vehicles at MSRP. I originally ordered a hybrid Maverick Lariat, but when we received information and switching to an ecoboost would increase my chances of getting built. Customer Service with Ford has given me all kinds of excuses, yet I see others who have ordered at the same time or later since September 16, 2022 have received their Maveric. I cannot believe how inept Ford Motor Company has been in getting this fiasco or an order system figured out. I've bought 8 new Ford vehicles since 2013 off the lot. I've been a loyal Ford customer. I have used Ford's service department at this one dealer I was using. I currently have a 2019 Edge Titanium and a 2020 Ford Escape SEL. I've decided that after this experience with Ford, I'll be going with a different brand. This is a text book case for a School of Business to review and see how Ford has been such a failure.
Be patient. Mine took 16 months. But it was well worth the wait.

I ordered my XLT Hybrid in October 2021. As of today, I'm at 641 days and it's finally supposed to arrive at the dealer in 2-3 weeks. I may have to delay delivery for a week so that I can apply the $500 Farm Bureau credit I read about in this club (BTW, thanks all!). I figured the deposit was just a $500 investment that may or may not pay off in a new vehicle. As long as you don't absolutely need a new car soon, sit back, relax, and know that eventually you will get the Maverick.

21.613 months for me....came to an end yesterday. Understand the frustration. No vehicle is worth that long of a wait.

But when it arrives - compartmentalize and separate your feelings of angst for the process and love your Maverick.

Because you will love your Maverick.

I'm an Oct. 13, 2021 XL Hybrid orderer myself. Stayed with the XL hybrid until Ford pushed me to an EB and I went Tremor that came home yesterday.

You're going to love the Maverick when it arrives.

My Mav's been built for a month now.
Dealership delivery keeps getting pushed.
I don't really care about the delays (I placed my order a year ago) but this inability to stick with a delivery date is intolerable.
That's bush league stuff.

What makes you think the allocation system is "arbitrary?' I don't think any of us know the parameters. Allocation systems are not new or unusual.
I agree allocations system are not new or unusual.

And I was lucky to have a good relationship with my dealership and was able to stop in and chat throughout my 20+ month wait and they were willing to answer questions once I understood what to ask. But, no one sat us down from the beginning and explained they were on an allocation system and what that would mean. I asked when we placed our order in Oct 21 how long would it take to get our Maverick. The salesman said a year and the sales manager said 6 months. And I believe they both believed that at the time.

Then in March of 22, Ford announces they are switching to a First-In and First-Out (FIFO) queue for Maverick orders. That is the first time that I realized that it was not that way to begin with and was the trigger that led me to finding this forum to see if I could figure out what is going on. After attending the Ford Video Guy university, I better understood the ordering mess. My dealership said I missed being assigned a VIN for the 22 model year "by a week", which made me think I would be early selection in 23 model year.

Then Ford cancels thousands of 22 VINs and pushes those back on the order banks and rightly gives them priority over everyone else. The problem was in the 23 model year Ford switched back to an allocation system and with being at a smaller dealership it would take almost another half a model year to clear those cancelled 22 VINs for our dealership.

So, the expectation had been set when I rolled over my order to a 23 model that I would be early in the production and my priority was properly set to a 10. But after six months of waiting and the dealership could not explain why or what order would get selected for production, other than I was constrained for being a hybrid. It certainly felt like an arbitrary process that really had no transparency into where even the dealership could explain when I would get picked up. I ended up having the distinction of being the very last 22 rollover and oldest order at my dealership.

Patience won the day. But getting a VIN assigned did and continues to feel like winning the lottery to me. So, I can understand the frustration of folks that did not have a good dealer that would communicate with them, Ford changing the selection game for half a year and then having to wait with no idea when or if (in the case your dealership ran out of allocations) your vehicle may be selected for production.

I only started reading up on Mavericks in September of 2022 but by then it was obvious that way more hybrids were ordered than Ford could or would make. I'm sure there were indications earlier but I wasn't following then. I don't know (and none of us does) but I think maybe dealers complained about the FIFO plan and wanted allocations based on other factors- sales, number of cars financed, etc. Of course dealers that would get more allocations were pushing that. I'm sure Ford also figured out they were going to build more of the higher dollar vehicles instead of the base models and ones with few options. They even published those numbers- showing various categories with number ordered and number they could (would) build.

I don't think they anticipated the demand (especially for hybrids) so that is on them. But once they figured out they did not have enough supply it was just a matter of who they were going to disappoint.

The dealer I chose to order from did not know a lot about order dates so I told them when the window was opening. They told me they would sell me my Maverick at MSRP and not make me take any extras. I got that via email but I decided to trust them. They are not the biggest Ford dealer in town but are not the smallest and they have a lot of other stores selling other brands. I talked to a couple other dealers that I would probably never order from.

I know. I know. That's the way it is these days. Everything is different. I waited 16 months for mine and was going a little crazy(er) at one point. I might have won an award for most visits to the dealer.
Yeah, the wait sucks but, it was worth it. Very happy with my Mav. Yer gonna have to go to your Zen place and practice patience.

I also can’t wait until I get on the I just got my truck thread!

Some thing to keep in mind....Ford only sets the MSRP.

It is the suggested retail price for a reason, that is, Ford does not want to go to jail or be massively fined for Price Collusion aka Price Fixing. The dealers can either charge the MSRP or set their own price where ever they want - higher or lower. (Hint - I went with lower.) Ford cannot, by law, do anything about the price the dealer charges. If a dealer is charging over MSRP stop blaming Ford and put the blame where it belongs - with the dealer.

Before you order you Maverick... negotiate the price and all fees in writing with your dealer before ordering. If the dealer wont give you a price in writing then leave them and find a good dealer that will.

There are really bad dealers charging way above MSRP. Why? Because people let them. Also people do not agree to the price ahead of time and the dealers know how long you waited and they now have the upper hand in price negotiations. This is a bad place to be and you can only blame yourself for not agreeing on the price in writing ahead of time.

Please stop....rewarding bad dealer behavior.

There are literally hundreds of Jeep Gladiator pickups for sale within 50 miles of me, bet its the same for you too.

Stellantis must have their act together better than Ford.

Or

Nobody wants those things.
