As others have hinted at. The fuel economy is the big seller for this vehicle. If it's not what you're looking for then I can see why you're disappointed. It's a budget high MPG hybrid pickup with small bed, FWD and low towing capacity.

But for those of us that wanted something just like this but have never really had an option anywhere near this pricepoint, it's a slam dunk.

I've had mine since January last year. Have over 25k on it. Love it. And love the 42mpg I have been averaging the last 15000 miles or so.

Also, seeing a lot more of them. This morning I saw a black hybrid from the same dealer I bought from. And later in the day saw another on the highway with the bed loaded up with stuff on I-71.

As for the idea that they've 'ironed' out the problems means that every new model has changes and different price demands from suppliers who may cut corners to reap more profit.

The two 'hood fire' recalls are excessive worrying, that I think is overkill. If your engine starts to run bad or knocks or smokes... shut the thng off and get out. Forcing a recall because people can't contemplate that is aggravating. The airbag one seems more poor construction rather than poor design. The dead battery issue (not a recall) appears to be a bad employee on the assembly line not properly crimping a wire (either at Ford Hermosillo or at the supplier, not sure). But it's infrequent enough and more nuisance than lemon.

I follow a lot of guys on TikTok that are into hybrids and EVs, and the growing pains with them are what gas/diesels had back in the 80s switching over to fuel injection, EGRs, etc.

Sold the 2023 Maverick Hybrid and bought a 2023 Ridgeline Black Edition. I only drive 2K or maybe 3K miles a year and wont miss the extra fuel economy too much.

I will keep an eye on the Mav development and maybe in 3 or 4 more years they'll get it dialed in, hopefully with a MSRP still under $25k.

Every new gen model has growing pains - it is what it is. Doesn't matter who the mfg is, very few get lucky with a homerun the first few production years.

I prefer to buy very mature-generation vehicles. This is the 6th model year and 7th production year of the 2nd gen Ridgeline - and by now it is very well sorted out.

N.A. V6 9-sp AWD w/paddle shift, climate control in the rear, nearly 600watt stereo and the entire bed is one giant speaker. Plus it has a trunk - A TRUNK!!

Honda is offering $1k instant rebates and 2.9%/60mo on these - and on top of that they can be found $5k-$6k under MSRP right now if you shop.

Those are Ranger and Tacoma prices. Maybe you should have waited and gotten a real truck for the same price and mpg?

Love the ignore feature.
The only problem is the same troll keeps coming back with a new name and you need to ignore again and again.

I hope a $50,000 Honda is noticeably nicer than a $30-35,000 Ford, my FX4 was under $30,000.
Can we now get a post on how much nicer a new Explorer is than a CRV, it would be just as informational.
To add, not all Maverick owners have had a troubled ownership.
Happy the OP likes his new ride but he stepped up to a much, much bigger investment in troubled times.

A nuisance that becomes annoying when you never know if the damn thing will start or not. I pretty much have to allow time for jump starting because you never know.

When multiple Ford dealerships will not acknowledge or correct the problem, is it not a lemon?

You still here?
Why don’t you go find a Ridgeline forum?

You weren’t happy with your Maverick?
Fine.
We don’t care.

Go away.
I guess I too will be chastised… I bought a 2023 Kia Seltos…. Because:
1) my 01/01/2022 order was never finalized by the dealerships sales manager.
2) my 09/17/2022 order never got anything more then the 45 day emails.

one month after purchasing my Kia, (I had to have a vehicle) I get my scheduled build email, but not until July…. I was just going let the dealership keep it. After telling my ex it was scheduled, she decided she wants it, so she will get the Mav, and I am keeping my Kia… maybe in a few years I will try again.

sometimes, we do what we have to do.

2023 RIDGELINE
  • Expiration Date 07/05/2023
  • $1,000 toward the lease/finance of a new 2023 Ridgeline when you lease/finance with Honda Financial Services® (HFS) *
  • Available to current owners of any 2013 or newer Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, Ford, GMC, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Mazda, Mini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Scion, Subaru, Tesla
2023 RIDGELINE
Finance
0.9% APR 24-36 mos¹
2.9% APR 37-60 mos

The OP neglected to include details that 0.9% finance 24-36 months (tough to take advantage on a $40K-plus truck) and $1K cash only if financed or leased through Honda finance. Here in mid-Atlantic Ridgelines are selling msrp, no markup or discounts.

OP’s deal not as sweet as posted.

Looks really nice, hopefully you will enjoy it for many years to come.

I have always thought the Ridgeline was a very cool concept, and would be a really good fit for me in 99% of cases. My hold back has always been a few things.... Price, MPG, and I can't stand the arm rests instead of a center console! Pre-pandemic I could get a full size that I would be happy with for $8-10K less than a Ridgeline I would consider.

At this point of trying to play the Maverick game I am giving up on it. Can't order one for any reasonable time line I am finding after speaking with several local dealerships. The preorders have already eaten the 2024 order bank when it opens in my area.

Hopefully what I get next I will be able to keep for 10 years. That being said, I am currently waiting to find out more information on the Tacoma, and since there is talk of a refresh on the Ridgeline for 2024 I am hoping that maybe we will see an interior update that might make me consider it. Pricing.... it seems that anymore it is closer to the same pricing as the others. Since I usually get lower trims the Tacoma I would be interested in maybe a few thousand less.... just have to wait and see. MPG.... I drive a lot 20-23K miles a year so MPG matters but I will have to weigh out all the pro's and cons when I am making the final decision.

Like half of all the unreliable cars my family and friends have owned were Hondas. My dad's civic motor blew after he owned it for 3 days. My friend had issues in the 30 minute drive home from the dealership.

That being said, all brands have their issues, and Honda, like Ford, makes pretty solid cars overall, even if 1 or 2% of people have issues with said brands. I hope his Honda will be more reliable than ours were.
My parents had a Honda with an issue, I had a Honda with an issue, however my Fords have had issues also. From my standpoint Honda's don't seem to be more reliable than most, however they are 'worth' twice as much if not more when I have went to trade/sell them.

My most reliable vehicle ever has been my current Nissan. 201K miles so far with only normal maintenance

I thought everyone who buys a pickup wants a trunk in the bed.
That's ok but I already have a bigger bed, storage cubbies in the bed, a 120vac outlet in the bed, and 12vdc in the bed. Doesn't everybody want that too?

I really like the Ridgeline, it's a much nicer truck than the Maverick. It was just a little more than I wanted to spend for what i utilize my truck for. But if honda wants to get generous with incentives, I might would trade with very little arm twisting.
I love my 2010 Ridgeline but the 13 MPG is what made me want the 2023 Maverick. Build day is day atfer tomorrow....
