Leaking bed cover

I have a new 2024 Maverick [5,000 miles] with the roll up bed cover. water gets in the back when it rains. If I go to a car wash the back end of the bed is soaked.
I want to swap it out for the tri fold cover. Ya think I’ll have any luck with Ford?

Update.
I looked and saw how the roll up top was fastened to the truck bed. A few clamps on the sides and a couple bolts up front.
loosened them and was able to push the whole cover back towards the tail gate 1/4 inch. Now the tail gate squeezes up against the roll up cover. Much better. I need to roll down the cover first then almost slam the tailgate closed. That’s ok. It is tight. No gap. Still have gaps at the corners of the cover. But I’ll get it Right somehow.

When I go thru the touchless wash with my tri-fold I still get water inside the tailgate/ tri-fold/ fender area. Can’t stop that I guess, lots of water pressure.

I have the ford soft rollup cover and as long as it centered and tight should be fine. with that being said there are seals you can add to help for leaks but I don't think any covers protect from all leaks & since all covers mount to seal on the rails I would assume the tri fold should be the same?

No bed cover is 100% water proof. I have a tri fold and some water gets in. Doesn't bother me as it's a truck bed.

My bed cover has a gap between the edge of the cover and the top of the tailgate. Not big but big enough to let in a lot of water. Then the edges have big gaps. Big enough to look in from above. A good half to 3/4 inch. I have since seen a trifold in the showroom. It looked tight with no gaps anywhere.

my cover has a gap at the tailgate. It doesn’t touch the top of the tailgate. Then the edges have a large gap. About 1/2 to 3/4 inch.

No vendor of Tonneau covers will guarantee that they are 100% waterproof. I have a BAK Revolver X4S hard roll up cover from RealTruck and it leaks a little bit on both sides if the tailgate. I'm not sure if there is anyway around it so I live with it. My buddy has a tri fold on his Honda Ridgeline and he says he does not get any water at all. I may have opted for the tri fold but when fully open it blocks visability out the back window which I didn't care for. You can try and see if you have any luck with Ford exchanging your cover.

Your expectations are unrealistic. As other have said, tonneau covers are marketed as water resistant, not water proof. There is a reason for that. You either need to get a hard sided bed cap (and then liberally use some silicone caulk to really seal it up), or otherwise protect those tools. Perhaps a large waterproof trunk/toolbox within your truck bed? That is what I have done for mine.

I still have my 2012 Toyota Tacoma with 257,000 miles with a roll up bed cover I installed myself. It never leaked like the one Ford put on. I expect a few drops to get in but nothing like what the Maverick allows.
It’s the design and/or installation by Ford.

I installed one myself on my 2012 Tacoma 247,000 miles ago. It never leaked like the one Ford installed.

I personally wouldn't keep tools of value under a soft tonneau, and it's not because I don't want them to get wet.

I put a cheap roll up bed cove on my wife’s 24 maverick and it doesn’t leak. I silicone caulk the seams at front and side of bed. I let it set for a few days to solidify then used a razor blade to trim flush. Then I put a piece of weather stripping across front of bed. Then I put bed cover on aligning it so it’s about 1/2 to 3/4 inch from glass I then tighten up the 6 clamps that came with it. When I close the tailgate it’s a bit snug. And when I open it, it’s tight enough that I have to tug on it to open it.

I have the rollup cover too and except for small openings in the corners where it meets the tailgate, I find it does an admirable job keeping large quantities of water off the bed. I don't think any bed cover can completely keep out water. Sounds like you need a bed cap.

I should also mention that my cover was not installed during the truck production but instead by the Kansas dealership I bought my Maverick from. They did a great job. I also always hand wash the truck and never take it through the drive thru at the carwash.
