The factory tonneau is the same as the BAK X4S, so you might want to check the fitment of the rear of the cover and the tailgate. It is possible to "set" the tonneau cover too far forward and there's a sizeable gap between the rear of the tonneau cover and the tailgate. A simple fix could be just to adjust the position of the tonneau cover towards the rear of the vehicle a few millimeters. Check this video from RealTruck on tips on how to better weatherproof the rollup cover.

Thanks I will check this out and see if I can improve it. Although for as much as I paid for this cover I honestly shouldn't have to spend any time or money on it.

The way the tailgate is made is a recipe for leaking around it. I wish it was made like mine was on my Jeep Comanche; straight sides to bed and tailgate making it very easy to seal. For the front of the tonneau, the grooves in the moulding on the top of the bed about 6 inches back and the depression at the corners of the front of the bed right below the back glass I have found let water in. I took my aftermarket tonneau off and sealed both some clear flexible sealant with some black paint in it to hide it. I need to add a bit more to the ones at the corners under the back glass because they are still slightly leaking, but I don't seem to have a leak any more in the 6 inch back grooves.

I purchased the Ford Rollup cover with my new truck. The first time I washed the truck, there was water inside the bed. I posted this on this forum, and someone from Ford responded asking me for my vin number, name, etc. Ford gave me a case number and told me a representative would get back to me in a few days. Ford never got back to me. Not hearing from anyone, I wrote back to Ford and they just ignored me.

In addition, I tried to contact the manufacturer of the cover, and they would not even talk to me. They said I must deal with Ford concerning the leakage.

I decided to add some extra moulding to my truck hoping to stop any further leakage into the bed of my truck. Yesterday it rained. Today I rolled back the cover, and many items in my truck were soaking wet. The bed was wet in all four corners. The small carpet piece I put In the truck was soaking wet. I had to take all items out of the bed of the truck and put them in the sun to dry.

I agree this top is not 100 percent leak proof, but for $1200.00 it should not leak as much as it did when it rained yesterday.

I know Ford monitors this site, and acts like they are here to help us, but in my case they have done absolutely nothing to help me.

so i watched a video on these covers and chances are ford followed the directions in installing, in the directions it says to install the cover so that it comes close to the back window but in the video the guy said you should actually move it back a half inch or so until it seals properly on the bed because its a little too short for the bed, after he did that he had minimal water and you can very easily do it yourself. probably will take less than 20 mins

Shortly after I bought my Maverick I was at a local truck accessory dealer and asked him for his opinion on the cover I bought as part of my truck. I was having the same leaking issue.
He took a look and said it just needed to be adjusted. If you look at the mounting points for the cover closest to the cab, you'll see there are slots to be able to adjust the cover forward and back. My assumption is the installer at the factory (or the dealer) didn't want to hear complaints about the tailgate being tough to close because of the tight fit to the cover, so they install them a hair forward at the expense of a leak at the tailgate.
Give it a shot- it doesn't take long and may help.

As a side note, I also inquired about replacement weather stripping for the top of the cover, where it meets the side rails (I think mine was cut too short on the rear and there's too much overhang on the front. I was told it's not available from the manufacturer, so that's a bummer.
Yes. I thought of that. And I also thought the installer didn’t want to hear complaints of it being too tight. 👍
