I would never recommend adaptors. there’s a lot of wheel choices from colors to offset on many websites even if you have a brand you prefer check them out.

It’s all personal preference, back in the day I usually bought a clear one and painted the backside to match (also helps with chipping). It is a nice custom touch since everyone can get a black one 😉

Just my opinion, but it’s a bumper, just like the front bumper isn’t flushed either to pack in the safety substructure for crashes,etc… Yes back in the old days trucks had optional rear bumpers & some people put roll pans on instead of bumpers however there’s different safety features nowadays.

I’m sure your dealership would be able to detail it better, however it sounds like you may want to perform it yourself by using a clay bar kit and that should take any contamination out before you wax 😉
