From a resale standpoint no. From a retail cost no. Cost at manufacturing level one would think it would be standard on a Lariat. But no big deal.

This was literally, word for word, going to be my replyI have the tailgate strut. I'd consider the hood struts at $99
Well said, thanksThis was literally, word for word, going to be my reply
but here’s more: I wanted both, did cost/use analysis and I open the tailgate way more than I open the hood, so $100 cheaper for something I used more often made sense. I’m happy o went with what I did, because the cost for the hood struts just isn’t worth it to me…. I’d pay under $100, but I’ve also seen people say they couldn’t open their hood after installing and opening closing a few times…. I open my hood maybe an average of once a month. I might pick up the hood struts once I finish every other mod I want to do, but the more time passes the less I care about them and would only buy some at a fat discount
I first would like to say, to each its own, I thought about adding the same two items to my truck but so far have not, is it worth it, well ask yourself really how often am I going to raise the hood if you are like me next too never. By adding the tailgate strut you loose a tie down point so the answer lies with how long are the item your going to carry in the 4 1/2 foot bed, uh yeah, right now I personally don’t see the value in them.Looking for input on is it worth having the strut assists for the tailgate and the hood. Seems plausible, but not really necessary, just like Door Window Deflectors.
> Ford Accessory: Tailgate Assist is on eternal backorder and DeeZee does not list it (haha, like DUH!)

> MRT has hood struts for $138 (standard black finish), or $198 for color (+$60 more)

Just wondering ....... Your thoughts?
No need to file that screw. Just install the mounting plate at an angle and it will not touch.Hood struts don’t make sense to me — I open the hood to wipe it down after a detail a couple times a year and to check fluids as often as a normal person would. Save the $140
tailgate strut is nice and for me it’s a safety feature. Multitasking with the baby, stroller, bags, etc… it makes life easier and I won’t bonk my kid on the head with the tailgate.
Just make sure you file the taillight bolt down so the strut doesn’t rub and wear. File it down a bunch, paint it black, and put it back.
I worked on a tobacco farm in the 60's with all my cousins and all the farmers used were Fords and Chevys with 8-foot beds and tailgates made of heavy metal and locked in place will chains and hooks. Never once did I hear anyone whining that the tailgate was too heavy or that anyone was bashed in the head by a tailgate. Back then all of us new that metal and heads don't go together from experience or being told don't do that to yourself or anyone else.Tailgate is light. I think the struts are a waste of money.
There is a member on here making different tailgate tie down cleats that work with the tailgate assist and bolt onto the stock location on the tailgate. Stainless steel construction too.@LeersMav , both are worth it if YOU want the convenience they provide.
I'm probably going to get the hood struts because I like the convenience of just lifting the hood and not having to fuss with the prop rod. Conversely, I'm not going to get the tailgate assist because I would prefer to have the tailgate tie-down cleat which has to be removed to use the assist. The tailgate ain't that heavy on this small truck.
Others will do it differently. Get them if you want them. Your truck, your mods. I think having the option is great and allows you some uniqueness to your truck.
I just saw that thread! Thanks! There is a member on here making different tailgate tie down cleats that work with the tailgate assist and bolt onto the stock location on the tailgate. Stainless steel construction too.
