Is 4k Towing Package Worth It

I guess the bigger question is how much does the extra cooling on the 4k matter? I live in PHX AZ area so it's obviously very hot. Also considering heat in the equation of whether to get a hybrid or EB.

If modern vehicles had real gauges that would tell you the temp of the coolant instead of just a little needle or gauge that simply stayed in the middle until it was too late I might not worry about it. But given that modern "gauges" tend to act like everything is OK until its too late and then freak out, I'd rather have the additional cooling.

Yes you'd be correct in that I don't own one. If you look at my join date, I've been following the Maverick since it was first announced because I was wanting to preorder one. I held off because I've owned several Fords and figured it's best to wait for the midcycle refresh. And what do you know; with the midcycle refresh came the hybrid AWD 4k tow variant.

I wouldn't consider it stirring the pot. I don't have a strong personal opinion one way or another. If you search my post history, I provide what I hope are reasonable counterpoints based on my own experiences attending media days for various automakers, working at dealerships, and as a mechanic, in the hopes that others that read along can make informed decisions for their situations. Otherwise it would be a lot of just "Yes get 4K tow" or "Yes get AWD" or "Yes get the Lariat" or "Yes get the extended warranty" when that isn't the best path for every buyer.

If the majority opinion was to not get the 4K tow, I'd be just as inclined to make counterpoints in favor of it.

Well then I'm definitely not on what I suppose is the general definition of stirring the pot or trolling. To me, stirring the pot would be like, making personal attacks or arguing for the sake of arguing without reasonable evidence or anecdotal experience to back up what I say.

For example, if I said, "Anyone that buys the 4K tow and doesn't tow 4K is absolutely stupid and just throwing their money at the wall for no reason. I hope they become broke wasting all their money like that and never get to retire", to me that would be more of a troll or stir-the-pot post because it doesn't add anything helpful to the discussion.

Instead I hope to promote more of a, "Everyone is making strong arguments in favor of 4K tow, but here are counterpoints to consider before you spend your money unnecessarily." Hence my goal is just to help people get a holistic view and make more informed decisions, even if the counterpoints oppose my personal opinions or are difficult to counter against the majority opinion.

Ok. Thank you all for the responses! I'm definitely leaning into getting a 2026 XLT AWD Ecoboost. I'm going to go in to it with the mindset that 4k towing and Copilot 360 are nice to haves but not needed (I really will never tow. I have 0 interest/need to). I only would of bought it for cooling peace of mind but the extra 1600$ seems steep if I can just change the transmission fluids.

Yeah if you never tow it really isnt needed. The only other factor would be resale value. IDK how long you keep your vehicles, but 4k tow makes a substantial difference in resale. If you keep them a long time then this doesnt matter.

Note there is also a significant difference in copilot for the lariat trim and copilot for the XL/XLT trim. If you are looking for active safety and the front sensors, you need the lariat/lobo/tremor trim.

• BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert / BLIS® with Trailer Coverage
• Exit Warning
• Rear Cross Traffic Braking
• Rear Parking Sensors
• Intersection Assist
• And power mirrors if you get an XL

That's it. Some of those items might be must-haves for certain buyers. My aforementioned neighbor absolutely will not buy a car without rear parking sensors, for example. And as for myself, I'd want CoPilot360 if I get an XL because the XL otherwise has manual side mirrors, and I am way too lazy to get out and walk around to readjust the mirrors when others drive.

I suppose Ford figured it was not worth it to make a manual mirror with BLIS specifically for the XL. Sort of like how all Tacomas, even the absolute base models, have heated mirrors now because I'm sure it was easier for Toyota to just have two mirror glass variants (heat with and without blind spot monitoring).

The order guide makes it a bit confusing and slightly misleading in that they repeat what is also included in the basic active safety suite when they describe the CoPilot360.

Thank you both for this! Ok I think I'm sold on 360. If I don't get a 4k towing package, are there other ways to keep the transmission cool? I only ask because I live in PHX, so it is hella hot 7 months out of the year.
