Are people with the hybrid option paying more for their insurance that a non hybrid model. My rate seems to be high for a person 75 years and drive less that 7000 miles a year? May be it is just the new norm.

I pay CDN$845/yr plus a $129 CAA membership, for $2M coverage on my 23 Hybrid in southern Ontario.

Mine seemed high on a mid policy update to add it, but dropped at renewal.

I think though there's a desirability factor, you can get big discounts when replacing an EB, but hybrids are more in demand. This results in higher replacement cost, plus higher attraction for theft.

Mine is very high as well. Have started a thread back a few months back and the numbers are all over the place.

I had to shop around to find a rate I was ok with. The quotes I received varied wildly, about triple from lowest to highest. Shop around and get them bidding against each other.

Insurance has gone up dramatically the past 5 years along with the cost of repairing cars, plus it's just sky high always in states like Florida and Texas with terrible drivers and lots of insurance fraud.

I was thrilled to get a re-quote from Progressive for $340 for 6 months with $1k comprehensive and 100/300/300k limits, but then it jumped back up to $440 for a glass claim I made 3.5 years ago. Allstate and Liberty Mutual were double that. Just a little reminder to NEVER make a glass claim, you'll be paying for that for 5 years of increased premiums.

Would be helpful if you told us what your rates are, what your policy looks like, and what part of the country you are in as that all matters.

I pay around $600 per year for my 2025 Lariat AWD Hybrid, 1k deductible, $100 glass deductible

I find the county with the cheapest rates, get a PO box and use that as my address.

Did you mean you have CAA insurance? Since you're including your membership cost.

I don't know why but a lot of people in my area swear CAA has best rates, but every time I've had them run a quote they end up double my current or best quote.

Mine is $179.15 for 6 months from State Farm with 250/250/250 coverage and $1k deductible. It's expensive compared to my 2022 F150 which is $118.17 for the same coverage.

Something to keep in mind:
On my aircraft insurance, I was told that the insurance underwriters also write big policies for things like…oil tankers. My dude told me to expect aircraft insurance ($3300/yr for a $1M smooth policy currently) as well as car insurance taking a big jump, just because of what’s going on over in the sand box right now. Uuug. Not looking forward to that.

And! Check your coverage for new exclusions. That's beginning to be a problem when you file a claim and they tell you "No that's not covered any more".

Remember rates higher until you turned 25 ? There is now an increased cost for person of "advanced middle age". I am over 80 and know it applys to me with State Farm. Not sure at what age the penalty starts. Did take an online defensive driving course and saved 7 or 8 percent on my premium.
