My wife & I both turn 80 this year, and our rates are high. Been driving since 1962, Never had a speeding ticket, or a wreck. Just one stolen VW in 1973, insurance paid me $750, $50 more than I paid for VW three years earlier. We're ALL paying for reckless drivers, Claims are amortization a Ross the masses I suppose.
When older some have their credit score lowered because they do not charge much so put utilities maybe on auto pay, gas, groceries, etc, everything on three different cards keeping charges less than 30% of credit line and pay them asap after billing. Maximize credit usage. Most insurance co's factor credit score into premium's of house, autos, etc.

I''m sure that being 80 is a greater factor than a few point credit score swing.

Yes 80 does affect. If you also only drive less than 8-10k miles a year helps some if you declare and prove it before renewal.
Everything adds up.
Do you furnish statement from HVAC, electrician, plumber every 6-8 years or at least when they check or repair equipment at your house? Helps a little on home premium.

So true, haven't borrowed in many years. We're doing more auto pay now. But it does kind of suck that your reward for a lifetime of hard work, conservative lifestyle, savings, results in an insurance penalty to support accident claims for the reckless folks. It is what it is.

Actually the vehicle is what's insured, we are just the payor. The payor's credit (lower credit ratings have a higher possibility of having a claim than those with higher credit scores) and the vehicles garage zip code are used to risk rate damage along with the MSRP of the Vin #.
