This just happened to me when Bambi decided to commit suicide on my perfect cream puff 2024 18 month old 20,000 mile
Hot Pepper Red AWD Ecoboost Lariat.

Book was $32,000
I paid $36,000 in December 2024

Five days after the crash I was holding a check for $39,600 and that included tax tag and title.
That was a free 2026 Lariat with all the same options paid in full.

I wanted a Tremor but that was $3,600 more.
My dealer took care of that with employee discounts and customer loyalty discounts for buying my third Ford from this dealer.

Ford handed me the keys to the Tremor with no out of pocket what so ever.

The take away people’s. A deer strike is an act of God like lighting or falling rocks.
No premium increase at all.

These Mavericks are not like our work trucks when trucks were trucks.
They are as delicate as your grandmothers fine China.
After a camping trip with Budweiser, Chili and eggs you’ll likely fart so hard you’ll bend the unibody.

Liability is 300,000…..only drive up to 5,000 miles tops a yr..plus 800 credit score

They give great rates to start with then like most increase every year… Homeowners insurance was cheaper as well but they will just increase it every year…I had them a year ago and that’s what they did. Went back from Allstate and got a great rate
This time next year I will comparison shop again

Anyway, note when comparing insurers that they aren't all the same at claims time.

Some want to get you a check to replace your stuff, while others try to squeezed enough out of you to cover their lowball pricing.

My brother got burnt out in the Pasadena wildfire. USAA not only wrote the check right off, but then called him, as they found that his wife had asked for increased personal property coverage on her last call before the fire, but it hadn't happened for some reason. All he need to do to retroactively get the increased coverage was pay the back premiums (a couple of months).

Meanwhile, his neighbors with State Farm (iirc), were getting hardballed and delayed.

Yeppers they certainly do.
Erie customers have the option of paying premiums in one lump sum or in monthly, quarterly, or 9-month installments.

Erie insurance is not available nationwide. Fairly limited in it's availability.​

Only 12 Covers States: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Pretty much east of the Mississippi only.

I am picking up my 26 Maverick Lariat hybrid today. Allstate gives me 14 days to insure this, the price will go up over $100 a month while going down in coverage. Here is what the proposal is

Moving collision from $500 to $1k
Moving comprehensive from $0 to $250
Dropping uninsured motorist from $250/500k to $100/300k or $50/100K

all of this comes out to $374 a month

Anyone using other companies that might be less?

That's a little much. I pay that for 3 vehicles (with $500 comp/$1k collision, Uninsured Motorist & Bodily Injury Liability both at $250/500k, Property Damage Liability $100k) at Farmers and I have 2 tickets. And I don't think it's really that good of a deal, but with my record it's hard to shop around.

Think twice about buying the cheapest.
I had State Farm once, never again.
They tried to screw me. I stopped em and dropped them.

My long time insurance agent owned an Allstate agency. He personally called me to tell me to leave Allstate because they were becoming an open insurance underwriter. And their rates were going to climb.
I left them, watched Allstate go to shit after a 30 year relationship of flawless service and support.

Remember to break it down all the way before you pay,

Your a meat sack with bones in it, your very breakable and your vehicle is going to kill itself as it tries to save your life through design.
You’re in a tin can hurtling towards your death with a thousand people all around you doing the same thing.
Not all but many have had wrecks because they are stupid.
They them even have the audacity to call them accidents.
They are crashes,
Get good insurance that will stand up for you even if it costs a bit more.

You did good buying the cheapest truck out there, that’s enough, now financially protect yourself.
Especially if your a home owner, 300/100
Is NOT enough.

Never had a claim on insurance since I started driving and have an excellent credit score

I know what coverage I have and it suits me well

I used compare.com to find the best deal. You could also plug in the info to progressive.com and they will do a comparison for you. The post sign up text and emails are kind of annoying. However, they have so far respected my unsubscribe requests. FWIW Progressive matched the lowest competitor for a year of coverage.
