Personally, I wouldn't buy a hair brush from Temu, let alone anything that's connecting to my Mav 😬
But, it's a good idea. I'd just source my parts elsewhere.

Hey Ford robot that chimes in once in a while with useless offers to “check” out this problem for us.
THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED A LONG TIME AGO! THE STUPID NONSENSE OF DRIVE IT MORE REPEATED AD INFINITUM IS INSULTING AND THE FACT THAT OWNERS ARE NOW POSTING HOW TO HOOK UP TRICKLE CHARGERS INDICATES FORD EITHER. A. HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FIX IT BUT WONT ADMIT IT OR.
B. DONT GIVE A RAT SHIT ABOUT EVEN HELPING US GET OUR TRUCK TO WORK LIKE IT SHOULD!

I love my truck but this is ”f######” inexcusable!!!

My first Ford in 35 years. 35 years of 5 family Toyota cars with NO issues. 35 years ago I sold my FORD for a loss due to unexplained "electrical issues". Hoping I'm not stupid again.

I just used one of the several nearby ground points to attach a ring terminal, and I did use the 12v terminal under the BLACK panel that says 12V. Not sure how to get into the RED 12V section. Since the charge wire (when towing) has a 5A fuse, and the trickle charger (when just charging) is only 1A, it doesn't matter..
True or not I do not know but someone posted that the black colored cover marked + with the jumper clamp in the circle with the slash mark (aka don't put pos jumper here) could deliver the 265 amps from the dcdc converter. To open the red cover over the threaded post just pry it at the top center towards the radiator. It will tip over really easy. A curved short tree limb about the diameter of my left index finger should work fine. Wrap it in electrical tape so it will look better in your tool/glove box 🤗.

Tell me you didn't connect the negative wire to the batteries negative terminal post...

Never connect anything, accessories, battery charger clips, etc. to the batteries negative terminal. The Mav has a Battery Management System (BMS) that keeps an eye on the battery and the current going in and out of it so it knows it's charge status. There's a little box by the negative terminal (shunt) that sends the information to the BMS. If you clip anything on the negative terminal the BMS doesn't know anything is going on and it could screw up what the Mav thinks the battery state of charge status is.
Always find another negative ground point to connect to when charging or connecting anything else to the battery/12 volts. It's okay to attach to the positive battery post.
Excellent advice.

Went to Harbor Freight. Purchased battery maintainer. Hard wired to the posts under the hood. Affixed the maintainer to the firewall. Perfect spot, easy install and the provided posts under the hood makes it a 30 minute install.

Yeah, me too! No grief with any of my Toyotas.
Been thinking I made a big mistake taking delivery of my ‘24 XLT Hybrid. Got it 9/23/24 and already have had two deep sleep events.
GM screwed me in 1978 on a new Buick Regal that had tranny leak GM never fixed. Guess what, never bought another GM vehicle and never will. I may need to add Ford to my do not buy list! Really sad 😔

I'm thinking one could use an identical set up for use with a solar device that mounts on the dash. No room in my garage (yet) for my truck, so its outside all the time. I can just see me forgetting to pull the plug from the trickle charger before I drive off. Easier to just unplug the solar panel and place it in the back seat.

Can the trickle changer be connect on the hybrid to the terminals under the hood or does it need to go directly on the battery?
Last weekk, I firewallI mounted and connected a Noco Genius 2 amp to the posts under the hood (like others on this site) and it seems to be working fine, so far.

I know this thread is relatively old now but hoping someone will see this and pick it back up. I believe I have read elsewhere that connecting the trickle charger under the hood still results in the charge bypassing the BMS and therefore the truck can still go into deep sleep because the computer thinks the battery is not charged. Can someone confirm this or correct me on it? And if confirmed does anyone have picks of how to connect the trickle charger so that the charge goes through the BMS properly?

FYI - Harbor Freight has 2 versions of what appears to be the same charger. The part numbers are different (thank goodness), but the polarity of the keyed connector is reversed. You can not swap the accessory cables, which look identical. The good news is the chargers are diode protected so they won't smoke if the polarity is reversed.

Connecting negative lead of a charger or a load to chassis ground makes the current pass thru the BMS that's connected at the battery negative terminal and allows the BMS to measure current into and out of the battery.

The way to bypass the BMS is to connect the charger or a load directly to the battery negative post.

NOTICE: When any vehicle module is being programmed, connect an external battery charger to make sure the module programming is completed without interruption due to the load shedding
feature becoming active. The external battery charger must maintain a system voltage above 13 volts. This may require a charger setting higher than the lowest charge setting.
The external battery charger negative connection must be made to an engine or vehicle chassis ground and not the negative battery terminal.
If the connection is to the negative battery terminal, load shedding may begin and module programming may be corrupted.

Do not charge or jump start the vehicle by connecting to the battery negative terminal. Refer to the Owners Guide for more information.

With so many power draining features on my new acquired 2023 Lariat lux...and reading a lot of posts on maintaining the 12v battery...I decided to install a permanent cable that I could plug into so that I can charge and maintain this new hybrid, since I don't put that many miles on the truck.
I've had it for a month now, and only just past the 200 mile tick...
So having CDO (it's like OCD, but all the letters are in alphabetical order, just as they should be!) I didn't want to always raise the back seat and remove the battery cover just to trickle charge. I went online and ordered a bunch of stuff for this project from TEMU.
If you like Amazon, you will like TEMU. Usually much better prices, but the free shipping is a little (maybe a lot) slower.
WARNING, it can be a little addictive!
Anyway, here is the build:
10 gauge SAE connector with inline 15a blade fuse for connecting to the battery. BJ12432 $6.47
10 gauge SAE connector with inline 15a blade fuse with a dust cap, for connecting to the above cable and to the battery charger. DE12653 $5.84
12-14 gauge SAE cable to splice into the battery charger. LE12539 $3.98
4 mode Smart charger - 12V 4Ah-100Ah Smart Battery Trickle Charger Automotive Battery Maintainer Desulfator With Temperature Compensation. VA00922 ~$16 now, I paid $12.50...
12-14 gauge Alligator clips with matching SAE connector. GP08199 $5.48

So after fighting with the trucks battery connectors...(trying to get the nuts completely off the peened/splayed shafts) I attached the cable to the battery, routed it under the trim towards the back of the truck, then into the storage compartment under the passenger side rear seat.
I then drilled a hole for the end connection in the small storage channel just inside the door. It all works great, and I'm happy with the setup.
The pictures I attached show all the components, and the routing.

I've added a lot more accessories to this truck that I will post in the proper threads later.
Really loving this Maverick!

The connection to the negative post needs to be moved from the post to a ground on the other side of the BMS so it can see the charging being done. (Mentioned in manual). It will charge the battery but the BMS will not know it has happened and not properly control the charging. The bms is the little box with the bar code attached to negative post.
