Which new battery did you install?

I'm now at 6 weeks when mine was previously failing every few days even after a full charge each time...

Good luck...

Great!

Was it a direct replacement to include the vent hole?

good luck!

,
Yes it was. Same specs as the die hard you used. I just didn't want to drive across town to advance auto when there was an autozone nearby.

Removal & Installation was a breeze after I gave up on trying to remove the molded plastic bins. After 30 minutes of struggling, I decided it was easier to drive over to my buddy's and borrow an extension bar. 🙃

Thank you both Johnkn and Hdang1980 - your posts about replacing the 12V with the Duralast Gold / DieHard Gold are giving me hope. My truck should be out of the dealership by the end of the week. They've already replaced my OG 12V - but my deep sleep drain came back within 12 hours of leaving the dealership last week. Now they are waiting for the replacement Battery Control Module to come in, have THAT installed, and then monitor it for 1-2 days to see if that solves it.

I will be going out out of pocket and picking one of these up and soon as I have my 23 Hybrid back.

Thank you for the updates and the posts, I will be sure to do the same as I (constantly) monitor these forums for advice.

I love this truck. I waited 17 months to take delivery and I've not even got 2,000 miles on it yet....and with summer coming, I can't imagine having to go with another vehicle - not to mention the nightmare of finding anything comparable to a fuel efficient pickup truck that's $1000s of dollars cheaper than any alternative.

Curious of the build date on your 2023 truck... While I currently have a 2022 that now appears to be fixed, I have a 2023 scheduled for build in June. I'd hate to start the problems all over again.

good luck...

My truck was built on 3/02/2023 and shipped on 3/06. I picked it up on 3/17 (I live in southern California). I couldn't love this thing more.....except this drain!

I ordered it originally back in October 2021...waited a year...did the cancellation/roll-over nightmare....waiting another 5+ months....fought (and lost) for my private offer protection - again, I'd rather just own the truck and enjoy the summer - and finally got everything settled before these ongoing (and two cancelled camp trips) battery drain issues.

How was the install overall? Are there any tips or advice you would give for pulling out the old / installing the new? I assume once you had the DieHard installed, you did the BMS reset. Were there any other things of note that I should consider?

If dropping a few hundred bucks and spending a couple hours wrenching on the truck can eliminate even 1 possibility of this ongoing battery issue, I'm more than happy to do the work and get it done.

Hi, I had a few tips in the link above, and yes I did the full reset over night ( although I had done that a dozen times with the original battery).

I've infant mortality issues with several Motorcraft batteries (my Raptor, my Platinum Expedition, and now my Maverick). In my case, it seems that if they make it through the first 7-8 months they are GTG for many years....

I hope it doesn't come to that with a '23.

It's now been 2 weeks since battery swap without incident.

I forgot to mention in my original response that I disabled all connectivity settings in the Mav after I did the battery swap. I have no practical use for the Ford Pass app so I won't miss it.

I also realized the trigger mode on my Line Output Converter for the powered sub was set to GTO, which basically means each time I open the door to grab something, the sub will come on as a result of the head unit's fancy graphics screen. So I changed the trigger mode to only turn on when it senses an audio signal.

Good to know - one thing to note for my 23 Hybrid is that I had a small Alpine KTA450 amplifier + new component speakers installed right when I got my truck last month. The first step I addressed was having the audio shop take a look to ensure that it was wired correctly and that the amp wasn't remaining active once the vehicle was off. They confirmed that it wasn't and they even put in a replacement for the heck of it. So while I would find it very hard to believe that my amp IS causing any issue, I am starting to think that maybe despite what they said / tested, it could be the cause? I really hope not as it has made SUCH a noticeable difference...but obviously I would trade an amp if it means no more battery issues.

I expect that periodically whether weekly or monthly or ? That the bms will run the full reset when the HVTB has a sufficient SOC (some of the middle of night noise) or at least bring the 12v to 100% charge keeping battery at ambient temp Since it appears that 100% charge would be hard to maintain for any significant time. If I wind up with an extra 12v I aim to charge it and then run the repair cycle that's on my noco while it's out of maverick.

I'm always going to my truck to grab something out of it. Between the cargo lights, tail lights, DRLs, head unit, instrument cluster, and interior lights being activated each time the door is opened, adding the powered sub's electricity draw surely wasn't helping the cause. On top of that, my drives in the truck normally are not very long so not being able to charge the battery properly is probably compounding the problem.

You should check what trigger mode your amp is set to when you get the truck back anyways just to be sure, if only to eliminate possible factors. At least that's my thinking. Good luck.

Per manual do not attach anything to negative battery post as that is where BMS is located ground elsewhere. Also states that improper charging by non vehicle charger or battery replacement may require the up to 8 hour battery learn procedure which requires truck to be locked with accessories off without even the doors being opened during that time. When I see my battery drop to 12.2 volts or lower I put hybrid into ready state. The ice will cycle on to keep HVB at 30-40% charge and bms will charge 12v. I turn off AC and head lights and anything else on 12v during this time. BMS will have 12v charged in 30-45 minutes and ice will cycle 2-4 times. 12v battery will be good for 3-4 days in low temps to maybe twice that long when temps are around 60°.
Generally true for me as well. Had 12v battery replaced by dealer 2nd of April. Got one low battery warning just after it sitting a few days. Used a battery charger and did the reset. Haven’t had a problem since. Been sitting for many days started briefly ( under a min. ) Friday before last.

Did you ever get your battery drain issue fixed? Mine was built in January 2023 and I picked it up in March 2023. I have about 2600mi and my battery just started dying completely every time I shut the truck off. I got “deep sleep mode” warnings the past few days, it drove fine yesterday afternoon, but was totally dead this morning. Jumped it and drove it around today to charge it, but it totally died again after a few hours of being parked. Battery voltage is currently 3V after being shut off for 5 hours (it was ~11.5V immediately after shutting off).

Something is really atypical with the 12v batteries that shipped. So does anyone think they are bad or "different" chemistry? Supplier got an impure batch of lead, or something?

I can charge with key on at 14.6 to 15.2 volts on mine all day long, the next morning (like 16-17 hours sitting) it's down to 11.9v. Or 11.8 volts.

I just turned off WiFi in mine. i have never used the on-board wi-fi but was one of the "lucky ones" to get it as a standard feature before it was deleted on later builds.

Gonna let it sit a whopping 48 hours and see if the resting voltage is better than 11.9.
