In my Honda Insight it was advertised 70 MPG and I could get 81 MPG if I kept speeds under 65 MPH.

If I drove 45 MPH I could get close to 100 MPG and drive from Mexico to Canada on one tank of gas.

It seems like a lot of people are concerned about replacement cost of the hybrid battery. I'd like to hear from actual owners of previous hybrid vehicles: did you have to replace the battery on your vehicle?

If you did, please reply to this thread below with the mileage and cost.

Thank you!
I went to the dealership last february and they replace my 12 volt battery a year later, it is reading 39 percent, took it to another dealership and they just charged it, I think they should have replaced it????

Wrong battery for what this thread is talking about.

But no matter - probably 3-4 threads on the 12V battery in the 2 most recent pages of posts.
So you'll see the correct ones, and learn more.
Good job searching too!

Just like many things I’ve owned that use rechargeable batteries. 200k 2013 Prius batteries have lost some efficiency IMO. My MPGs have dropped. Is it worth 2-3 grand to get new batteries… nah!

You can get a re-manufactured hybrid battery for your Prius for cheaper than that....

I guess I should also consider that I started out playing the MPG Game with the Prius at 1st which may have boosted my original numbers a bit. Y’know… taking off for a dead stop with nobody behind you and accelerate like a turtle…. Or floor it with somebody behind you and accelerate like a slightly faster turtle. The Maverick Hybrid is not a 2013 Prius  :cwl:

Our 2009 Toyota Prius is still on it's original battery pack at 186,000 miles and 17 years old. It has been the perfect car for teen drivers, as it is dog slow, uncool, but still pulls down mid 40's for mpg.

Greenbean is the place for Prius batteries - their price includes installation so you don't have to worry about kiling yourself.

For a 2004-2015 Prius, they have three options at $1,549, $1,749, and $1,949

I actually posted this in response to another thread where this topic was brought up. I believe *knock on wood* that this is not going to beat problem.
If you look on Ebay for a HVB from a wrecked Maverick, low mileage batterys are around $1K to $1.5K. + shipping. A battery for a EV is thousands more. Hybrids are the way to go!

The Hybrid-specific warranty is 8 years, and its not prorated. Just take it to the dealer if it ever goes. Unlike the 12V battery, the only people who have had them replaced are due to early failures, so very rare and probably some kind of damage when built or rock impact damage due to abuse of the vehicle.
